In 1890, the Pickett family started a mortuary business that served all of southern Utah and parts of Arizona and Nevada. In 1950, LeGrande Spilsbury purchased the business. His son, Ted Spilsbury, and his son-in-law, Clark Graff, joined the business in the late 1960's. Ted and his wife, Vivian, purchased the St. George location in 1985. They later purchased the Hurricane, Utah, location and also expanded into Mesquite, Nevada.  Today, all of the mortuary locations remain in operation and proudly continue to serve the needs of numerous families.

Ted and Vivian are the owners of one of the most beautiful funeral homes in the Western United States - a crown jewel that casts a brilliant reflection on the City of St. George and its residents. Spilsbury Mortuary is a proud recipient of the St. George City "Mayor's Beautification Award."
