| Edward A. & Vivian Spilsbury, Owners |
|
Following in his father's footsteps, Ted Spilsbury is a second generation funeral director. Ted and his father, LeGrande Spilsbury, have served the residents of southern Utah, Arizona, and Nevada for a combined total of 65 years. Today, Spilsbury Mortuary is one of the finest funeral homes in the entire nation. Ted refers to the beautiful mortuary in St. George as the "Crown Jewel of Funeral Service." Spilsbury Mortuary currently serves all of southern Utah and sections of Arizona and Nevada. As Ted reflects on the Spilsbury heritage of funeral service, he is very pleased that he has been able to reach such a high level of service and professionalism. Ted grew up in St. George. During his early teenage years, he worked on his grandfather's farm. Ted's grandfather, George Seegmiller, and his uncle, Bart Graff, taught him the value of hard work. Farming gave Ted a wonderful feeling of gratitude and accomplishment. In Ted's late teen years and high school days he worked for Harold Schmutz at Harold's Texaco. Harold taught Ted to serve the public enthusiastically and to meet their many and varied requests. Ted graduated from Dixie High School in 1966 and attended Dixie Jr. College for one year. Ted and Vivian married in 1967, and in that same year they packed everything they owned into the back seat of a V.W. Carmangia Convertible and set out together for Mortuary School in Los Angeles, California. Naive and frightened, they began to meet life's challenges. Ted served his apprenticeship at Turner and Stevens Mortuaries located in Pasadena (the home of the Rose Parade), Monrovia, and Alhambra, California. Turner and Stevens were and still are one of the premier mortuaries in southern California. Ted realized at that time that he would never be satisfied until he was providing those he served with the finest and most beautiful facilities the industry has to offer. Today, after thirty years of constant aggressive hard work and personal service, Ted and Vivian are living their dream. Spilsbury Mortuary is truly the "Crown Jewel of Funeral Service". Ted and Vivian have a beautiful family of three daughters and one son: Amy, Jody, Brandy, and Brock. They have 5 precious grandchildren: Mitch, Raycen, Jackson, Riley, and Megan. Together, Ted and Vivian live a wonderful life with loving family and many friends. Ted and Vivian love the Lord and together they express their appreciation and thankfulness for their many blessings. Serving with love in your heart is evident in the way you live. |
