
Our loving wife and mother, Vonda Hardy Hirschi, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2009. Vonda was born February 13, 1929, to George Franklin Hardy and Vilate Young in Washington County. After finishing school at Hurricane High School, Garland Clark Hirschi and Vonda were married on May 14, 1948, in La Verkin, Utah, and spent their 61 years of married life in Southern Utah; including Cedar City, LaVerkin and finally making their farm in Rockville, Utah, their home since 1982. Vonda was active in her church and community, enjoying quilting, gardening, canning and homemaking activities.
Vonda is survived by her husband; her four children, Emilee Philabum and Danny C (Jean) Hirschi both of LaVerkin, Brian (Melanie) Hirschi and G. Paul (Barbara) Hirschi of Cedar City; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Vonda is also survived by three sisters, Colleen Hepworth of LaVerkin, LaDonna Paxman of Hurricane, Rosetta Gurley of LaVerkin; and one brother, Wendall Hardy of SLC. She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, two at infancy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Springdale LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing held Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services, both viewings held at the Chapel. Interment will take place at the Rockville Cemetery following the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the Mountain America Credit Union under the Vonda Hardy Hirschi Memorial Fund, where these funds will continue to aid a family during the Christmas Holidays.
