Thelma Chadburn Reidhead 84, passed away Monday March 1st, 2010. She was born September 8, 1925 in Veyo in St. George, Utah to Fredrick S. Chadburn and Harriet R. Beacham (deceased) she married Horace Reidhead February 3, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thelma was raised in Veyo, Utah. She worked at the Veyo Merc until she met the love of her life Horace. Very shortly after meeting they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. She like to tell stories about how they got married. They were bored so they decided with the little money they had they could make it to Las Vegas. So they were sitting in front of a wedding chapel when they were called in to be witnesses for another wedding. Horace said " Lets get married since we are here." All the money he had was in a check and he could find anywhere to cash it. So she said well I have my paycheck $50.00. They got married. She even paid for the Hot Roast Beef sandwiches for dinner which they split (she was so proud). Well they didn't have money for gas to get back to St. George so they went to the gas station in Las Vegas and they loaned the gas to get back $2.11. She mailed the gas station a check when they got back. She was housewife. Thelma loved to babysit, as she babysat every kid in the neighborhood. She always had one kid on each hip, carrying and packing them around. Thelma loved to sing, as everyone called her "the songbird". She loved embroidery work. Her favorite food was Kentucky Fried Chicken (hot’n spicy chicken wings were her favorite) and McDonald’s. Last year she had a short stay at Kolob Care and Rehab. She loved it so much, she made visits to enjoy the activities a couple of times a week. Thelma enjoyed playing bingo at Kolob and cards with Minnie her caretaker at home. She loved playing with her great-granddaughter, Alexis doing makeup, and watching Alexis do dress-up and they played dolls together. She loved to laugh and tell her life stories. She enjoyed the visits to her children and grandchildren. Thelma deeply loved all of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
