Susan Atkinson Brown

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and daughter, Susan Atkinson Brown, age 67, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, in St. George, after a long illness.

She was born January 20, 1943, in Richfield, Utah, to Mark and Kathleen Atkinson. She grew up in Richfield where she spent many years working for her father at Mark’s Drive In. She attended school in Richfield where she made many life long friends. Susan graduated from Richfield High School in 1961. She met and married Bill Morwood and together they raised four children, Stephanie, Larry, Sherrill and David. They later divorced.

 Susan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed shopping, horseback riding, camping, watching Jazz games and WWE wrestling with her grandsons.

 Susan attended cosmetology school and worked for many years as a successful hairdresser at Kay’s Kut and Kurl in St. George and the downtown ZCMI in Salt Lake City.

 Susan later married the love of her life, Steve Brown and they retired to St. George, where they have lived the past 6 years.

 Susan is survived by her loving husband, Steve Brown and mother, Kathleen Atkinson both of St. George, UT; her children, Stephanie (Matt) Franchow of Sandy, UT, Larry (Marsha) Morwood of Glenwood, UT, Sherrill (Jason) Brinkerhoff of St. George, UT and David (Anita) Morwood of Las Vegas, NV; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her faithful dog, Rufus. She is preceded in death by her father, mark Atkinson and brother, Stephen Atkinson.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Stake Chapel, 1285 N. Bluff St., St. George. There will be a viewing Friday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., and also Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services, at the Chapel. Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
