[Return to Obituaries]

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother and friend, Jack Alan Hymas, passed away on July 15, 2010. Jack was born on May 3, 1954, to Jack and Janet Arlene Hymas, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jack was an avid outdoors man and lover of nature. He enjoyed anything outdoors: camping, hiking, deer and bird watching. Jack loved all animals but especially the one or two or three dogs he always had by his side. Jack was a great cook (BBQuer) and could fix anything. Jack’s nickname was “Action Jackson” because he was always busy and doing something. Jack was always there for anyone with a warm smile and a helping hand. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He would light up any room with his bright smile. Jack could always get anyone to laugh, especially cheering up others if they were down.

Jack was an avid lover of Rock-n-roll. He enjoyed playing the drums and teaching his daughter Hannah how to “pound em.” Rock-n-roll was his passion but Jack loved all great music and listening to his extensive CD collection.

Jack founded (with Jack Sr. and Fil Beck) Cedar Electric Supply in 1978. Together, and later by himself, he ran this successful business until 2005, when he became the Branch Manager of Codale Electric. Jack was always successful in business; always going the extra mile for his customers.

But more than anything Jack loved his family. He was always there when anyone needed him. He especially loved his children and was very proud of each of them. One of the happiest moments of Jack’s life was when he became a Grandfather “Papa”. Spending time with his granddaughter, Kadence were treasured moments for him. Jack will be missed more than words can express. Goodbye sweetheart-we love you!

Surviving family include his wife, Heather; mother, Janet Arlene; children, Carrie (Matt) Buhler, Kellie Hymas (Justin Newkirk), Tony Hymas, Hannah Hymas; granddaughter, Kadence Buhler; sisters, Karen (Dale) George, Debbie Cameron; and his numerous other family members. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Christopher; father, Jack Sr., brother, Larry; sisters, Lynn and Robyn.

Memorial services will be held Monday, July 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ the King Catholic Church, 690 South Cove Dr., Cedar City, UT.
