Howard Nathan Baldwin, 84, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2010. He was born on August 11, 1925, to Nathan and Ethel Baldwin in Eastmill Creek, Utah. On October 19, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Trudy Heining in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple for time and all eternity.
Howard was an active member of the LDS church and loved the scouting program. He served as Scout Master for many years. He taught classes for all his life and loved to teach. When Howard became active in the church, he dedicated his life to the gospel. He was fortunate to have been able to serve three stake missions. One of those missions being in Suriname South America, where he had to learn to speak Dutch. He and Trudy were avid genealogists and served another mission at the Genealogy Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Before he was married, Howard was truly a mountain man. He spent a lot of time in Green River and loved to go river running, even before it became popular. He liked to say that he started the craze of river rafting.
Howard had many talents and hobbies. Inventing things and working in his machine shop were just a couple of them. Although he liked his hobbies, his favorite thing to do was spend time with Trudy and his family. He and Trudy were a wonderful match. They both were what the other needed. He often said, “two people to live one life, who could - would”.
Trudy passed away in December 1999, and he truly has yearned to be with her ever since. He is survived by his children, Cathy Halterman (Reid), James Baldwin (Roxanne) and Daniel Baldwin (Luanne); his sister, Twyla Harris of Draper, Utah; brother, Kay (Sidney) Baldwin of Clinton, Utah; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Trudy; grandson, James; brother, LeGrande; sister, Naonda; mother, Ethel; and father, Nathan.
Howard lived in California the last years of his life with his daughter, Cathy and her husband Reid. They took care of him until he passed on.
