Carol Jean Hudson Jensen

December 24, 1951 — August 8, 2022

Carol Jean Hudson Jensen passed peacefully from this earth, in the still, quiet hours of the morning on August 8th, as a result of stage 4 colon cancer. Our hearts are left with a void of her amazing love. She was the most easygoing, wonderful mother, grandma, and dear friend.

Carol was born to Loren and Evelyn Meng Hudson on December 24, 1951. She was their little Christmas Carol. Carol’s childhood was spent playing with siblings and cousins in Sugar House. She graduated from South High School in 1970, then spent her adult years working in retail. It was during her years at Sears that she met beloved friends who stood with her to the end.

Carol married Robert Wallin in 1976 and bore two sons. Their marriage later ended in divorce. Lance and Arek are the lucky boys who call Carol, Mom. These two sons have a tender bond with their Mom and unmatched memories with trips to Hawaii, Chicago, Disneyland, and beyond. Their deep devotion to one another is tangible and sweet. Her three grandchildren made her eyes sparkle; snuggling on the couch together was simply the best.

On February 27, 1999, Carol married Michael Jensen. They spent many happy years together and loved traveling to Grenada and Alaska. Mike passed away September 22, 2015, after years of heart problems.

Carol was a friend to everyone; she was fun, compassionate, delightful, and warm. Can’t you just hear her laugh and picture her crinkled nose? Radiant and contagious. She had a distinct eye for color, concept and design and was a gifted artist in numerous ways. Her tole paintings were flawless; all sewing projects, precise; and quilts, heavy and full of warmth. She created beauty in each direction she moved and had a gifted touch.

Carol spent her life smiling. Her heart was sincere and kind. Her life was full of ups and downs, yet her ability to live with ease and focus on the ups was a gift and a great example to those she rubbed shoulders with. She had an appetite for all kinds of food, great literature, “Outlander,” house plants, beautiful artwork, and all things floral and creative. She was never found without her water bottle, and her phone rarely took a break from ringing or dinging with someone checking in on her. She was much loved. She will be sorely missed.

Carol is survived by her sons, Lance (Katherine) Wallin of Salt Lake City and Arek Wallin of St. George; grandchildren Grace, Willis, and Evelyn; stepchildren Angela Woolsey, Lynette (Shaun) Jensen and Jeremy Jensen; as well as many step grandchildren, her siblings; Tom (Shawna) Hudson, Linda (Clyde) Smith, Jeff (Debby) Hudson, and Bob Hudson, as well as the Jensen sisters and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by dear friends she traveled, dined, read, quilted, and laughed with: Paula + Steve, Fara + Ross, Carmen + Lamar, Denise and Bonnie. Thank you for serving, caring, and loving Carol like your own.

A sincere thank you to all those who took time to care for Carol, in all of her years, but especially these last 18 months. Thank you to the IHC Cancer and Infusion Center, as well as the Hospice Team. You brought immense comfort and peace to her in a beautiful way.
