Chris James Peterson

April 10, 1970 — June 4, 2022

Parowan, Utah- Chris James Peterson, 52, passed away on June 4, 2022. He was born April 10, 1970, in Richfield, Utah to Chris Arvil Peterson and Connie Ruth Carter. He married Anna Ciscar, and they had their beautiful daughter Khristine Peterson, and he welcomed Kimmie Vlahos into his life as his own daughter. Soon after his divorce, he met his sweetheart, Patty Devaro. They married on August 27, 2000, bringing her four children into his world Dennis and Jody Chapman, Amanda, and Leslie Fisher.

Chris, also known as “Moge” grew up in Joseph, Utah. This is where he learned to work hard and play even harder. He treasured his memories with his cousins and friend’s aka- “Joseph Boys.” He spent his days and nights living the best life that a boy could live with the best cousins and friends that God could give. His memories and stories were numberless when telling the tales of his childhood shenanigans. During these years, he developed a deep love for chess, gardening, horseshoes, camping, hunting, fishing, rocks, and working with wood. He graduated from South Sevier High School in 1988. He traveled around doing construction work until he settled in Parowan.

As a young boy, he spent hours playing in the dirt with his Tonka Toys. He never outgrew his love for dirt work and found his love for operating the “real deal” as an adult. He worked for Bulloch Dirt Works for seventeen years where he loved his work and his work family. Each year, he was so excited to head out to the gold mine. He cherished the friends that he made and the time that he got to spend out there digging in the dirt for them. From a very young age, he was taught that anything worth doing was worth doing well. He stuck to this model throughout his life and always took pride in his work and enjoyed achieving challenging tasks.

Everyone who knew Chris (Moge, Pounder), knew that he loved unconditionally. He may have appeared a little ornery, rough, and ragged around the edges; but his mind and heart instantaneously effectuated and emulated the same pure love of Christ, and that love radiated to all that he came in contact with. He gave all that he had to whoever needed it and never expected anything in return. Three years ago, he fought a valiant fight with cancer; and he won the battle. Three weeks ago, the cancer came back with a vengeance settling in every bone and organ in his body. He was courageous and endured the pain with very little pain medication. He fought with everything he had, but his time on earth was finished. As he stepped through the veil he was greeted by many loved ones: Chris A. Peterson (dad), Brandon Curtis (brother-in-law), Shawn Peterson(cousin), Warren Carter(friend), Blaine Bredsguard (friend), Sean McCombs(friend), Eric Balch(cousin), Ryan Bucanan (friend), Blane Parker (uncle), James and LaVona Carter (grandpa and grandma), Ken Peterson (uncle), Barry Peterson (uncle) and many many more loved ones. He will be notably missed.

Chris is survived by his wife Patty, his daughters Khristine, Kimmie, Kathleen, Amanda, Leslie, and Jamie; his sons Dennis, Jody, and Nick; his parent Connie and Brent Nielson; his sisters Cindy & Rob Garcia, Corrie Curtis, and D’Mont Palmer, Cheryl and Cory Jones; His dear friend Ron; Uncle Fred and Aunt Alice Peterson and cousins; Uncle Lester and Aunt Althea Peterson and cousins; Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Nannette Carter and cousins; Uncle Doug and Aunt Wyona Balch and cousins; Aunt LaVonaParker and cousins; Uncle LaDell and Aunt Kelly and cousins; 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
