David Merrill Stucki

David M. Stucki, age 86, peacefully returned to the loving arms of his beautiful wife, on February 28, 2022.  David was born on July 20, 1935, in St. George, Utah. The eldest of four children born to  Maggie Brooks and Merrill Stucki.  He lived his life to the fullest and cherished his St. George heritage.

As a young adult, David served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss-Austrian Mission (1955-1958). He returned to St. George to continue his education, then graduated with his Bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from the University of Utah.

The greatest moments of his life were when he met and then married his eternal companion, Karren Lund, in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 24, 1960. They had eight children; two daughters and six sons, which have brought them great joy.

Everyone loved to visit David in his accounting business, David M. Stucki Accounting for over 60 years. He delighted in numbers and loved his customers, whom he considered dear friends. David loved sports, (watching or playing), basketball, tennis, football, and baseball. David could never watch a BYU football game too many times, to Karren's great dismay.  His entire countenance came to life when singing in the Southwest Choral, Color Country Chorus and church choirs. When he performed, his broad smile and brilliant bass voice lit up the room.  While attending the University of Utah, he played the trombone in the Marching band.  As an avid fisherman and hunter, he always returned with many colorful stories of his adventures.  He served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving as a temple ordinance worker and financial clerk.  Many years of his life were dedicated to the Boy Scouts. He also served many years in the Utah Army National Guard, honorably discharged in May of 1961.

David's family was his world.  He loved spending hours teaching and mentoring his children. Raising a garden was important to him.  You could hear him say, I didn't raise a garden for the vegetables, I grew a garden to raise my children .  After his Eternal Companion passed away over 7 years ago, he longed to be with her. We are sure there is a grand reunion taking place on the other side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Catherine Karren Lund Stucki, son, Spencer Stucki, brother George Stucki, and daughter in law, Carolyn Stucki.  He is survived by his children, Michelle Averett (Ashley) of LaVerkin, David L. (Mendy) of St. George, Byron (Carolyn) of Cedar City, Sam (Lara) of St. George, William (Jamie) of St. George, Merritt (Fikirte) of St. George, Julianna Waters (Kay) of St. George, Jennifer Mathews of St. George, Sisters Jeannette Stucki of Las Vegas,  Mary Tousa (Jerry) of Dallas, 34 Grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
