Kendall Lee Pearson

September 28, 1942 — June 4, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kendall (“Ken”) Lee Pearson. Ken passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the age of 79. After battling cancer for years, Ken died peacefully with his beloved wife, Marilyn, at their home in St. George, Utah.
Ken was born in Oakland, California, on September 28, 1942, to parents, Iven Leith Pearson and Lydia Montana Hatfield. He spent his youth in Harmony Hills, near San Juan Bautista, California. Ken is the oldest of five children. Ken served a proselytizing mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States and Western States Missions from 1961-1963. While attending Brigham Young University, he met his wife, Marilyn Brashear. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 27, 1966. After graduating with a degree in accounting, he worked for IBM for 25 years and Alpine School District for 12 years. After retirement, Ken and Marilyn served two missions together: the first in Rome, Italy (2008-2009) and the second in Billings, Montana from (2014-2015).
Ken loved family history so much, he was inspired to write several books for his children and grandchildren. We could see how much he valued our family history because he would work on books for years and then send them out to all of us. Ken’s books are filled with pictures, stories, oral histories, and facts that keep the family history a living record. Ken was a loving, kind-hearted person with a great sense of humor; he did love his dad jokes. He delighted in finding interesting artifacts, like unusual rocks, rare coins, and other found objects. Camping, hiking, playing sports, and spending time with his family were a priority for him. Ken had a curious mind and was a voracious reader, preferring historical biographies, western-themed novels, and political thrillers.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Leslie, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, brothers, Gilbert (Carole) Pearson, Barry (Linda) Pearson, and sister, Kathy (Don) Bair; children: Val, Adon (Jen), Jeremy (Kimberly), Kim (Brian), Kara, Marin (Shane), Ryan (Sheralee), Staci (Stephen), and 24 grandchildren.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Manzanita Chapel on 3519 Manzanita Rd, St. George, Utah 84790.
