Patrick Joseph Coughlin

November 12, 1946 — June 7, 2021

Patrick Joseph Coughlin, Our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Uncle peacefully passed from this life on June 7, 2021. Pat was born November 12, 1946, in San Bernardino California to Don and Marie Coughlin. He was an adoring brother to his sisters Pam and Carol and enjoyed his brothers John and Michael. Pat attended Catholic School and Military Academies. He got his first taste of Utah when he received a scholarship to Weber State University for Track and then was recruited to the Football team. (He passed some of his athletic skills along to his four grandsons, who also love the sport, and granddaughter who loves track).

Pat married his sweetheart, Bobbi in 1968 and also became a proud Daddy to his Son Bradley. Bobbi and Pat added two more beautiful children to their family, Trisha and Darren. In 1976 the family of five moved to beautiful Escalante, Utah. They raised their children on the 5C Ranch that Pat and Bobbi built. They ran the cattle ranch and enjoyed the outdoors. He doted on his talented beautiful cowgirl, Trisha. Pat taught his family to hunt and be self-sufficient. Pat loved the small community. He had many dear friends. He also had several lifelong friends. He never missed a hunt with Uncle Ed and the gang.

Pat loved to work. He loved teaching his sons to work and eventually teaching his grandchildren his ways. He was so proud when his son Darren purchased the underground pipeline company and carried on the fourth-generation company, Coughlin Company. However, Pat would never “retire”... he loved to work. He later worked with the Escalante Irrigation Company. He also continued to enjoy working on their Ranch. As Pat eased into his “calmer years” he lived for fishing and camping with his grandsons, teaching them to drive, traveling to National Rodeos with his grandkids, and spending time with Bobbi. We have so many memories of fun trips and experiences that we shared with our “Poopa”. He was one proud Grandpa and the kids Loved him! Nothing made him prouder than cheering on his football players and cowgirls! And they lit up whenever he showed up.

Pat was the toughest man. He was our hero and patriarch. We are so thankful for his determination and grit throughout life. Pat never lost that and definitely took it with him to heaven. Heaven got a little more country. We know it was a warm reunion as Pat met his children, parents, family members, and friends that passed before him.

Patrick will be deeply missed. We know he is lining everyone out in heaven as he prepares a ranch as beautiful (and organized) as his earthly one for us on the other side. Pats' love of his life and wife of 53 years, Bobbi, now resides in St. George Utah near their son Darren Coughlin, his wife Tara, and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank our friends and family for all the support. Thank you to the Nurses, the staff at Autumn Park, Chris, Tosha, and Doctor Michael Codiga for making his transition from this life to the next as comfortable as possible for our stubborn (mostly sweet) ole’ cowboy.
