Robert Earl Stevens

Robert Earl Stevens passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at home. He was 100 years old.

Born on October 9, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clara Whitby and George Henry Stevens, the youngest of 5 children.

He was raised in West Bountiful and Woods Cross and graduated from Davis High School in 1939.

He met Matilda Lehnhof and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple, June 17, 1942. He then joined the Navy serving through WWII as a radar technician assigned to a PT squadron. He was a participant in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest Navel battle in history. He reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

He worked with his brother at the Stevens Canning Company in Roy, Utah for many years and served as the President of the Rocky Mountain Canners Association in 1965. He retired from the banking business in the late 1970s and built a house in Washington, Utah 1982-83.

He held various church and civic positions in the communities in which he lived.

He was currently serving with the American Legion Post 90 and served with the Honor Guard for over 20 years and was active in this within two months of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife Millie of 70 years in 2012.

He married Frieda Jacobsen August 2015. She has been a loving support to him and his family for the last seven years.

He is survived by his wife Frieda; his six children – Robert Craig (Debbie) Stevens; Barbara (John) Sims; Kathryn (Mark) Scadden; Joanne (Dave) DeCorso; Judy (Stephen) Miller; Mark (Peggy) Stevens; 30 grandchildren; 106 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held February 12 at 1PM at the LDS Northbridge chapel; 1080 W. Arlington Street, Washington, UT 84780. A viewing will be held at 11 am prior to the funeral.
