Sherrell Kimball Berrett

November 23, 1938 — October 2, 2022

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Sherrell Kimball Berrett, our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by his loving family.

Sherrell was born November 23, 1938, in Price, Utah to Golden LeRoy Berrett and Caroline Roberts Kimball. He graduated from Jordan High in 1957. He married Sharon Ann Morgan, August 30, 1962, in the Manti Temple. They later divorced. On September 29, 1988, he married his sweetheart, Linda Heaton Bench. He affectionally referred to her and their beloved pets, Miss Maggie and Ellie Mae, as “his girls.”

He lived in several cities throughout Utah, California, and Georgia over the course of his lifetime. His influence was felt and revered by his friends, neighbors, work, and church associates.

If you asked a hundred people who Sherrell Kimball Berrett was, they would all give you a different answer. Farm boy. Beet digger. Basketball star. Student body president. BYU Cougar. National Guardsman. Australian missionary. Mormon Yankee basketball team. World’s best salesman. Workaholic. Jokester. Teaser. Latter-day saint. Son. Brother. Husband, Father. Grandfather. Great-grandfather. Friend.

Sherrell was all these things and more. From the time he was young, he was a people person. He had a gift to connect with others in whatever circle he was in. He loved life, and while we may have all known him in a different capacity, he unites us forever and connects us through our thoughts, feelings, and memories we share of him.

He loved Linda. In their early years, they enjoyed attending Utah Jazz and BYU games as well as going to a good movie and a yummy dinner. Serving in the Joseph Smith Memorial together will always be treasured, as well as their trip to Nauvoo.

Sherrell is survived by his wife, his children – Lisa (Russ) Minnick, Jill (Paul) Klein, Rick (Kristi) Berrett, Kyle (Jenn) Berrett, Tami (Jay) Minnick, Troy (Kim) Bench, Matt Bench, Mark (Jodi) Bench. He is also survived by his siblings Golden (Connie Berrett), Merilyn Whittenburg, LeRoy (Mary) Berrett), Carolyn (Mitch) Green, Brenda (Dan) Dahlgren.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chad and Vaughn, father-in-law, LeRoy Heaton, brother-in-law, Raymond Whittenburg, sister-in-law, Hallie, sons, Chad and Doug.
