Toni Hall Obituary
Antoinette "Toni" Duce Hall passed away at home in St. George, Utah on May 8, 2026, surrounded by her family after a long, quiet decline. Toni was born November 5, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to William "Bill" and Margaret "Peggy" Duce. She married Wesley Vard Hall on September 13, 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple.
Toni grew up in Lancaster, California as the oldest of five children and graduated from Antelope Valley High School, where she played clarinet in the marching band. As a young girl in the Antelope Valley 4-H club, Toni was often given orphaned 'bummer' lambs by local Basque shepherds, whom she lovingly raised for several years. Through 4-H she learned to sew, beginning a lifelong passion that would bless countless people. This childhood skill grew into a master craft; Toni eventually won the annual Make It With Wool competition in Montana, a tradition she took great pride in passing down to her daughters.
While attending Utah State University, Toni met Vard. After graduating with a degree in Home Economics, she taught high school for a year before dedicating herself to her greatest life's work as a wife and mother. Together they lived in Los Angeles, California; Tucson, Arizona; and Federal Way, Washington before settling in Bountiful, Utah in 1970 to raise their five children.
Toni was an extraordinary seamstress and teacher. In Bountiful, she founded a sewing school in the back of Family Fabrics where she taught hundreds her craft. Her dedication to the community extended into local schools where she served as the PTA President for Bountiful High School, advocating for students and supporting the teachers she so admired. Over the years she sewed dozens of prom dresses and several wedding gowns, and later discovered a love for quilting. Her creativity remains a legacy through the many quilts, bags, and handmade treasures held by those she loved.
She also showed her love through hospitality. Her children fondly remember coming home to the scent of freshly ground wheat bread, and her "scone nights" and homemade pizzas were family staples. Whether organizing church luncheons or community events, Toni always found joy in quiet service. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Toni served a mission with Vard in the Missouri Independence Mission from 2002 to 2003. They cherished their time in the mission office and the lifelong friendships they formed there.
Toni had a gift for friendship and a wonderful laugh. More than anything, she loved her family with all her heart. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Toni is survived by her devoted husband, Wesley Vard Hall; her five children, Chris (Kyle) Westra, Mare, Peggi (Juan) Silva, Russ (Kaylene), and Steve (Jen); 13 grandchildren: Jordan, Kate, Lindsay, Abby, Brittnee, Keagan, Amber, Tanner, Peyton, Connor, Dylan, Lizzie, and Marie; and seven great-grandchildren: Holland, Joel, Lyla, Margot, Beatrice, Skyler, and Malcolm. She is also survived by her sister, Suzy (Gary) Wiese. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ken (Cathy), John (Brenda), and Joel (Helen).
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St George, UT.
