Barbara Lee Hunt
May 24, 1936 - February 7, 2026
Enterprise, UT

Our beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend
returned home to her Heavenly Father, Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Barbara was born May 24, 1936, in Panguitch, Utah to Freda Lee and Joseph Oren Bell. Barbara was raised in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Davis High School. She was the oldest of three daughters. She married Richard (Dick) Read and had four children, Rick, Randy, Ron, and Patti. They moved to Dixie in 1972 where the sun and water were a large part of their lives. They later divorced and Dick passed away in June of 2022.

After a few years of being alone, Barbara met and married her soulmate, Larry Hunt. Larry and his three children welcomed her into their lives with open arms. Larry drove truck and Barbara loved to go on his runs with him. They were fans of Dixie College basketball teams following them across the country several times. They were also fans of the Utah Jazz and Barbara met and had pictures with Karl Malone. When both of them finally retired they moved to Enterprise.

She served faithfully in the LDS church in many areas. Barbara worked for the City of St. George as the City Clerk/Recorder for many years and was respected for her dedication, hard work, guidance, and teamwork. She also enjoyed volunteering for a number of years with the Senior Citizen's Center in Enterprise.

She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, searching for arrowheads, and pursuing the elusive pine nut. She enjoyed cross stitch and crafting making and donating hundreds of blankets over the years. She also had a love for reading that turned into a love of audio books as her eyesight failed her. She always enjoyed working outside in her yard and planting flowers. Barb loved her grandkids and always planned fantastic Christmas parties. She planned and pulled off epic Easter Egg hunts and picnics, stuffing thousands of eggs for them to find. She will be remembered for her love of life, compassion, and the mother she was to everyone.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry and her sister Joan (Don) Randall. She is survived by her sister Paula (Tom) Allen, Kaysville, UT; children: Rick Read, Stevensville MT; Randy (Sharron) Read, Ivins UT; Ronald (Suzie) Read, St. George, UT; Patricia (Tyler) Esplin, Enterprise UT; step children: Lisa-Michele (David) Church, St. George, UT; Lorilee (Mark) Jamison, St. George, UT; David (Mary) Hunt, Veyo, UT; 19 grandchildren; and 54, soon to be 55, great-grandchildren.

In respecting moms' wishes, no viewing will be held and no formal funeral services. Graveside Services and Inurnment will be Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1:00 PM, at the Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise, Utah (565 E 100 N). Family and Friends are welcome. A light lunch will be provided at the Enterprise Stake Center (80 S Center Street) following the services. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Our family would like to give a special thank you to mom's ward members and friends in the Enterprise area. We don't know what we would have done without all of your help. She continually expressed her love and appreciation for all of you. We would also like to thank the Hospital staff, and in particular a special thank‑you to the nurse who came in again and again to check on Mom, and to look after Ron and Randy with such kindness and compassion. Your care made a profound difference, and we will always remember the support you gave our mother and our family.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Barbara and sign her online guestbook below.
