Barbara Jean Leavitt Rhoads passed away in St. George, Utah, June 6, 2025. She was born on August 8, 1937, in Pioche Nevada to Evan Leavitt and Edna L McBride. She was the oldest of nine children and spent much of her time helping to raise them. She married Emory Earl Rhoads, November 28, 1956.
Life sketch- After Barbara and Earl were married, they lived in Henderson, NV until 1979 when they moved to Coeur d’Alene, ID. They stayed there for 6 years and then returned to Nevada to live in Panaca. They tried several other locations and finally settled in St. George across the street from her sister Louise in 2005. She spent the last year of her life in memory care with her sister Louise, where everyday they learned that they were neighbors. She was talented at oil paints and had the most beautiful yards in each place she lived. Barb and Earl spent time traveling in their motorhome, cruise ships and guided tours in their retirement years.
She is survived by her sons Daniel Rhoads (Valerie) of Spokane, WA, and Daryl Rhoads (Jenna) of Hurricane, UT and daughter Shelly Williams (Dale) of Hurricane, UT. She has 28 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren; Siblings, Louise Conger Robson (John), James Leavitt (Tree), Carol Seegmiller (Phil), Eileen Bechtol Carlson (Dave) Janice Graviet (Vernon). She is preceded in death by her husband Emory Earl Rhoads, sons Steven and Brian Rhoads, brothers Karl, Robert and Kenneth Leavitt.
Viewing will be held on June 12, 2025, from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Spilsbury mortuary on 110 S. Bluff St. in St. George, UT. Graveside service will be held on June 13, 2025, 9:00 am, at the Tonaquint cemetery, 1777 S. Dixie Dr., St. George, UT.
