Barbara Mountford

Barbara "Barb, Bob" Reber Mountford of St. George, Utah, passed away on September 21, 2025.

Barbara was a New Year's baby, born January 1, 1941, to Lorin and Lila Hafen Reber. She was the youngest of five siblings. Barbara grew up in Santa Clara and graduated from Dixie High School in 1959.

Barbara was proud of her family heritage of farming and trucking. She cherished her childhood and teenage years growing up in Santa Clara and loved spending summers riding horses, driving tractors, and swimming in the pond at the family farm in Beryl.

Barbara and Asa met at the "Deer Hunters Ball" in the fall of 1959 in St. George and married on February 24, 1962, in Santa Clara. Together, they raised their family on 400 East in St. George and enjoyed an impressive 62 years of marriage.

Christmas was her favorite time of year. She would decorate from top to bottom and always had the best Christmas Village display. She created magical memories for all of us. Her grandchildren will always remember the magic of the season, thanks to her.

Barbara's life and love were centered around her family and friends. Their happiness and accomplishments were hers; their sorrows and troubles, she helped to bear. She was our biggest supporter-never missing a ball game, dance recital, or band concert, and traveling many miles to support those she loved. She created many memories over the years, working to build beautiful floats for her own kids, nieces, and nephews for the Children's Parade during the Dixie Round-Up-often winning 1st Place!

Barb was never afraid of hard work and always gave her best, no matter the task. She was quick to lend a hand and had a heart for serving others. Among her many accomplishments, Barbara worked at Evelyn's Dress Shop for many years, where she formed lifelong friendships. She was a longtime member of the Lady Lions and served as President in 1982. She catered many local weddings and events as an owner of KB Catering.

Mom was a master quilter and seamstress, sharing her talents with all of her loved ones. We all have a cherished quilt from Mom/Grandma. Barb was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Asa; three children: Becky (Floyd) Bradley of Las Vegas, NV, Kirk (Karla) Mountford of Mapleton, UT, and Teri (Justin) Leavitt of St. George, UT; and nine beloved grandchildren-Curtis, Tayler, Carson, Bailee, Kortney, Nathan, Sydney, Austin, and Kamryn. She was also very proud of her five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her older brother, Clark Reber, and a dear sister-in-law, Karen Mountford Cottam.

Barbara went on to heaven to reunite with her parents, Lorin and Lila; her brothers, Claire and Mac Rae; and her sister, Helen.
