Beverley Joan Biglow Cousins, our beautiful, sweet, and loving mother, returned to her heavenly home and loved ones on August 23, 2025, at the age of 94. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in Washington, Utah. Beverley is the daughter of Vernon and Lillian Longden Biglow, born May 17, 1931, in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. She lived in Taber, Alberta, Canada, until she was fourteen, then moved to Southern California, where she lived most of her life. She later moved to Utah to be closer to her family. Over her lifetime, Mom has lived in over twenty-one homes!
Many commented on Mom's beauty as a baby and child, which also drew the attention of a young man in high school. She married that high school sweetheart, Harold Bertelz Cousins (Ben), and they became the young parents of three children, William (Bill), Joan, and Linda. Mom was so young-looking that people often thought she was the babysitter. She was a natural at motherhood and loved being a mom. She did everything she could for her children.
Mom was very skilled and loved sewing, cooking, and genealogy. She made everything from baby clothes to prom dresses. We raised, raced, and showed quarter horses, and Mom even made the Jockey shirt. Mom made several beautiful quilts for her granddaughters. When she moved to St. George, she organized a women's quilting group, and they tied over seven hundred quilts for the Women's Shelter, as well as many hygiene kits. Mom was always there to help others and opened her home to many who needed a place to live.
When our family went boating and camping, Mom would always prepare the best food in the campground! She cooked amazing family dinners, and in her later years, loved making delicious desserts for her neighbors. Mom also did a lot of genealogy and laid a strong foundation for finding even more of our ancestors today.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many church positions throughout her life, especially singing in the choir with her lovely voice. She has a strong love for our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of her strong testimony of the Gospel, she set a great example for her children who followed in her footsteps along the covenant path. After forty years, her dream came true, and our family was sealed together in the Bountiful Temple. Mom loved going to the temple as much as possible and was thrilled to be able to attend the endowments and weddings of several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in recent years. Her life was centered around our family being together forever. We could not have asked for a more loving and caring mother. We love her so much and have been greatly blessed to be her children.
She is survived by her children, William Vernon Cousins, Joan Marie Barber (Dave), and Linda Ann Porter (Blaine), brother-in-law, Donald Cousins, and sister-in-law, Carmel Cousins. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great[1]grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Beverley is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Vernon Biglow; husband, Harold Bertelz Cousins; sister, Mary Adelia Zurita; grandson, Joseph Lee Jensen; granddaughter, Beverley Ann Jensen; daughter-in-law, Pam Cousins; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Miranda Nelson.
We want to thank all the nurses and assistants at both Legacy at Parklane and Ovation Assisted Living, as well as all her friends, neighbors, and caregivers, for their love and kindness to our mom during her later years.
