Calvin Connel Nielson born November 12, 1926 in Roosevelt, UT and died on June 1, 2019 at Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, UT. Surviving Family is Irene Jessop – sister, Former wife Eva Zitting Nielson Bath, Former wife Ruth Zitting Nielson, 16 sons & daughters – Jim, Calvin Jr., Kathy, Darrel, Christine, David, Marie, Lorin, Richard, Allen, John, LeRoy, Rebecca, Glen, Caroline, Charles and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family that has preceded him in death are Niels Nielson his Father, Ella Gilbert (Nielson) his Mother,  6 Brothers, 3 sisters, Former wife Marjorie Gavoilla, Joeseph Fredrick Nielson – son, Alvin Gilbert Nielson – son.

Calvin grew up in Cedarview, Utah. Moved to a little log farmhouse in Midview, Utah which at this place his Father passed away. From there he moved to the Salt Lake City, Utah with his mother and family. He was drafted into the Army in 1945. When returning to Salt Lake City he took part in serval different jobs and then started up a plumbing company called Allied Trades Corporation with his business partner Carl Zitting. He was also a member of The Utah Homebuilders Assn. of Salt Lake City. He moved to Hildale, Ut and continued plumbing for many years. Then took up a job at Nielson Wholesale Plumbing ran by his son John. His final job was at the local Hardware Store where he over saw the plumbing department. After which making his final home for the last 6 years at Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah.

They family would like to express their THANKS to the nurses and staff at Southern Utah Veterans Home for the LOVE and CARE they showed to Calvin. Thanks also to Ted Spilsbury and all the staff at Spilsbury Mortuary. To all our family and friends – we love you – thank you for sharing this moment in time with us.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, UT. There will be a viewing Friday, June 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday prior to services from 9:30-10:30 am, at the Mortuary.
