Listen to Obituary

Carol Ann Dyson Abelhouzen passed away peacefully Sunday, March 8, 2026, with loved ones by her side. Her passing followed a sudden stroke she suffered on Thursday while she was on the Lord's errand, ministering and serving others.

Born on January 14, 1947, in Lowestoft England to George Arthur Dyson and Violet Elizabeth Gladys Daniels. Carol was the big sister to 8 younger siblings: Ruth, Janet, Maureen, Hank, Beth, Bob, Angie & Mike.

Carol attended Mckinley Elementary and Lincoln Jr. High, where she was the free throw champion for basketball. She graduated from South High. In 1967, she met Richard Henry Abelhouzen upon his return from serving an LDS mission at a church fireside. They were married March 28, 1968, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She gave birth to three boys, Troy James (1969), Richard Todd (1970) and Timothy Jason (1971). In 1984, they special ordered their daughter Tara Reshma from Goa India.

Mom was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to decorate and rearrange her home. She enjoyed being in the kitchen baking bread & cookies, making homemade fruit leather & jams, and bottling fruit & vegetables. She always had a homemade treat for her kids after school. She was a wonderful cook & seamstress; she sewed all of her boys clothes when they were young and hemmed many a pair of pants for her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed quilting but her two main loves were family history and gardening. She loved to "get down and play in the mud," and she loved a good hunt for names to take to the temple. She spent hours every day researching her genealogy and went to the temple every Friday.

Carol and Richard devoted 50 years of their lives to building and operating a number of successful businesses, with the majority of those years spent in the collection industry. During the years when their sons were teenagers, they owned and operated three Taco Maker restaurants, in addition to two collection agencies.

Their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication created a lasting legacy that continues today through American Management Services, Inc., which is now thriving into its third generation and proudly celebrating 30 years of operation this year.

Carol loved her family; she is the grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 12 ½ great-grandchildren. She was a shining example to all of us, service, long-suffering, and a love of the gospel and her Savior. Our world will be a little dimmer without her in it.

A devout member of the church of Jesus Christ, she served in many leadership callings: Primary President, Young Women's President, Relief Society President and temple worker (to name a few). She loved her Savior and was the definition of Christlike love and service. Carol devoted 57 years to serving our dad who passed away in 2024.

Carol is survived by her children Troy, Todd (Jen), Tim (Desiree), Tara (Dan) Hallman; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & 7 remaining siblings. She is preceded in death by parents, husband, brother Mike and grandson Jonah. What a reunion they are having!

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the medical staff at St. George Regional Hospital, Gold's Cross Ambulance and IHC Hospice for the care they have given her this week and helping us to make her last moments with us beautiful.

Mom, you will be fondly remembered until we meet again.
