Washington, Utah-Charles Scott Campbell, 67, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with family by his side. He was born January 19, 1959, in Delta, Colorado, to Robert Bruce Campbell and Juliene Jenson. He married Robin Kay Coats on July 23, 1977, in Hotchkiss, Colorado.
Charles grew up on a farm near Paonia, Colorado. He graduated from Paonia High School in 1977 and earned an Associate of Science in Electrical Automation from Utah Technical College in Orem, Utah, in 1979. Charles spent his entire career as an industrial electrician at the world's largest trona mining operation near Green River, Wyoming (formerly FMC and later Genesis Alkali). Known to friends and coworkers as Chuck, he began working underground in October 1979, transferred to the surface in March 1986, and retired with 46 years of service. During that time, Chuck lived in Green River, Fort Bridger, Mountain View, and Rock Springs, Wyoming. Later, he moved to St. George, Utah, to be closer to his family.
Charles excelled in athletics and was passionate about many sports, but baseball held a special place in his heart as a player, coach, and fan. He also studied martial arts and earned a black belt in Taekwondo. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and fishing in the mountains of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on winding mountain roads. As a young father, Charles was a devoted family man and spent a lot of time with his children. He was known for his kind and generous heart, which extended to both people and animals. He took pride in providing for his family and serving his friends and neighbors. Charles loved music and was a talented drummer. He also enjoyed playing chess, was an avid reader, and had a lifelong interest in history.
Charles is survived by Robin Campbell of Hurricane, Utah, former wife and mother of his five children: Kathryn (Kyle) Siddoway of Hurricane, Utah, Tyler (Shauntel) Campbell of Washington, Utah, Curtis (Diane) Campbell of St. George, Utah, Laurie (Steven) Consiglieri of Washington, Utah, and Rebecca Campbell of West Jordan, Utah; eight grandchildren: Kyler, Kolton, Kinli, and Kalyb Siddoway; Kody, Garrett, and Dexter Campbell; and Rileigh Consiglieri; four great-grandchildren: Ledger, Madden, Eloise, and Lainee; brothers: Robert Campbell of St. George, Utah, and David Campbell of Johnstown, Ohio; sister, Julie Ann Bailey of Tremonton, Utah; and former wife, Megan Lundberg Campbell of Washington, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Juliene Campbell, and his adopted son, Christopher Campbell.
A celebration of life and interment will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to share memories by signing Charles Scott Campbell's online guestbook below.
