Charles Ellis Lang passed away on March 8, 2023, at 73 years of age, Charles was born on December 11,1949 to Jeter and DeLue Lang in St. George Utah. Charles was the oldest of 10 siblings, Jetta (Daniel) Christian, Baby Adam (deceased), Jeff (Jamie) Lang, Zara McMullin, David (Alleen deceased) Lang, Smith (Hamby) Lang, Clarissa (Monte deceased) Larsen, Glen Lang, Vern (Edyth) Lang, Mark (Kimberly) Lang.

Charles served in the United States Army from 1969-1972, Army reserves until 1975, and served 1 tour of duty in Vietnam attached to the 221st Signal Company Combat Photographers unit. After Charles left active duty he returned home to St. George, Utah, where he married Marjean Westwood of Circleville, Utah, on December 16, 1972, in the St. George LDS Temple. Charles and Marjean had 5 children: Dennis Lang, Kymberley (Justin) Marley, Bevin (Amanda) Lang, Kelly (Sara) Lang, and Dustin Lang.

Charles worked for J&J Lumber as a ready-mix driver and was affectionately known as “JJ” (Jeter Junior). He returned to college to get his accounting degree. He worked at Merrill’s Carpet and Tile as the bookkeeper. Charles was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in the Washington, Utah, First Ward.

Charles was an active member of the VFW local Post 2628 and held the Quartermaster position there for several years. Charles loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his siblings. Often, they could all be found together watching movies or doing some kind of activity. Charles was always willing to help others when needed and always found time for his family and his faith.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Jeter and DeLue Lang, one still born brother (Adam), and his grandparents. Charles is survived by his wife and his children, 15 grandchildren, and 9 siblings.

 A viewing will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00  pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington Main Street Chapel, at the Washington Main Street Chapel, 82 North Main Street, Washington, Utah. A second viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am, prior to services.

Following the services Charles will be laid to rest in the Washington City Cemetery.

Local Veterans organizations will administer military Honors for Charles.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, Saint George, Utah (435) 673-2454.
