Dale Ray Baxter

On July 22, 2023, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away. Dale Ray Baxter was born July 12, 1939, to Raymond Wright Baxter and Maxine Kaufman VanPatten in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dale was a life long groceryman working for Albertson’s for over 45 years as his only employer.  He spent a brief period of service in the United States Coast Guard stationed at the Alameda base in 1958 to 1959.

At the completion of his military service, Dale returned home to Utah, returned to working for Albertson’s as a produce manager and was married. While living in Utah in the early 60’s, Dale and his wife welcomed two sons, Kevin, and Jeff to their family. In early 1965, he was transferred to Northern California and promoted to Regional Produce Manager. Upon the end of his first marriage, Dale moved back to Utah and transferred to work in management roles in the grocery department.

Dale was working as the assistant grocery manager when he met Fran while she applied for a job as a checker. After a few months of dating, Dale and Fran were married on June 14, 1972, adding three additional children to his family, Cameron, Haley, and Angie. Dale soon was promoted to become store director and served in that position at many different stores until his retirement in 2000.

Dale loved the outdoors spending time in his earlier years riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, fishing and hunting and enjoying the cabin in the Uinta mountains. He loved cars from an early age which led to his interest in the Wasatch Mountain Jaguar club. He participated in the club by showing and judging cars for many years. After retirement, Dale started spending time in Southern Utah riding his quad with friends which got him involved with the Tri-State ATV club where he participated in the club for many years. He also loved to travel and see new places, going on fishing trips, vacations to Hawaii, and enjoyed cruising.

Dale is survived by his wife Fran Baxter, sons Kevin Baxter (Terri), Jeff Baxter (Tina), Cameron Harker (Ann), and daughters Haley Monson, and Angie Harker Crowther (Robert), 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and his brother Jerry Baxter (Joni). He is proceeded in death by his parents.
