Darrell Martin Knight returned to his heavenly home on September 14, 2025.
He was born in St. George, Utah, the first son of Lamar and Edna Knight. Darrell was special in so many ways. A devoted sports fan, he especially loved any game with the name "Dixie" in it. The Spectrum once featured a photo of him with the caption: "The Most Enthusiastic Fan."
Darrell worked for 30 years at Dick's Café as a proud "professional dishwasher" until it closed. He loved attending singles dances and would often say, "I'm really good at it." He was also a talented bowler, though he wasn't shy about showing his frustration if he didn't get a strike.
If you ever gave Darrell money, he'd smile and say, "I'll pay you back in my own special way" which, of course, meant you probably wouldn't see it again.
Darrell loved life and struggled deeply when it came time to leave it. He was honest to a fault, endlessly grateful, and had a great sense of humor that kept those around him laughing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his brother, Kenny, who was also his best friend.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister.
There will be a viewing Friday, September 19 at 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. held at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. A Graveside service will follow at the St. George City Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life held in Darrell's honor at a later date.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.
