On Friday, June 26, 2025, our beloved Darryl Lamont Jackson Jr.-affectionately known as "DJ"-returned home to his Heavenly Father at the age of 36. Though his time on earth was short, the light, laughter, and love he spread will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born premature at 25 weeks weighing 2lb 12oz in Los Angeles, California, on September 4, 1988, to Darryl Lamont Jackson Sr. and Michell Raya Hall, DJ was raised in Compton, CA, before moving at age 15 to St. George, Utah-a place he came to call home both spiritually and physically.
On January 21, 2005, DJ was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a commitment he honored with unwavering faith. From that day forward, he never missed a single sacrament meeting-an inspiring testament to his devotion and testimony.
DJ was endowed in the Cedar City Temple in 2024 and joyfully served as an ordinance worker, always eager to bring peace and purpose to others. Whether at church, with family, or among friends, DJ radiated childlike wonder, unconditional acceptance, and pure-hearted kindness. He made everyone feel seen, safe, and loved-never judging, always embracing.
A true example of Christlike love and loyal friendship, DJ lived with a vibrant spirit and sense of humor. He often joked about funerals being "too dark" with everyone wearing black and made it clear that when his time came, he didn't want anyone dressing in black. He wanted a celebration-a gathering of light, joy, and life. So please, honor DJ's request and wear white or light colors as we celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
DJ is survived by his loving mother Michell Hall, his aunt Dawn Hall, his sister Sarenity Amodt, his brothers Lucas Neal II and Elijah Amodt-Hall. He also leaves behind his cherished baby cousins: Josiah Reyes, Karter Neal, and Ezekai Gibbons. Each of them deeply loved by DJ and will carry his memory in their hearts forever. He is preceded in death by his grandfather James Ray Hall Sr, his great grandfather Harold Joseph Gregory and great uncle Paul Gregory and his uncle Mark Jason Hall as well as his grandmother Terry Jo Gregory-Hall, his great grandmother Mary Evans Gregory, his great-great grandmother Rosemary Cohen, and his aunt Jozelle Rene Hall.
