David LaMore

Santa Clara, Utah - On October 19, 2025, David Artell LaMore entered his eternal home in Heaven. He was born on January 20, 1939, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to LaVilla Wilhelmina (Boelke) and Harold Walter LaMore and married Sherry Wonderly on June 22, 1965, in Anchorage, Alaska.

David was the third child in a family of 7. As a student in Wisconsin, he lettered all four years in football, basketball, track, and wrestling. An adventurer always, boldly leaving his home state for the wilds of Alaska in the early 60s, he and Sherry raised two daughters, served in their church and community, learned Tae Kwon Do, drove the Al-Can highway, fished for halibut and salmon, made their own crab and shrimp pots, and downhill skied all over the wintery west. He helped create fireworks shows in Anchorage, including the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration. He was also president of the Mountain View Lion's Club for several years, completing service projects such as Thanksgiving food baskets for the needy and a playground in Campbell Creek Park. Most importantly, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Anchorage Baptist Temple, where he attended for almost 40 years, serving as usher and volunteer.

After retirement as Chief of Management and Disposal for the real estate division of the Army Corps of Engineers Alaska Division in 1994, David chose to start a new endeavor, remodeling homes from top to bottom, and reveling in the joys of grandparenthood. In 2013, Dave and Sherry moved to Burbank, Washington, to be closer to family, and see more of the United States. During their Washington years, they faithfully served at Grace Baptist Church in Kennewick, Washington, doing community service mission trips with his big purple truck, and inviting the local youth group to swim in their pool. Their motorhomes traveled from Washington to Maine, south to Florida, to the Pacific Coast, and back to Washington many times, before making a final move to the year-round sun of Santa Clara, UT; all four members of the family were finally living in the same state again. Despite his long illness, he loved puzzling with his wife, visits from family and friends, playing with his Yorkie-poo CoCo, watching the hummingbirds, and enjoying the beautiful red-rock views of his southern Utah home (plus the occasional Green Bay Packer game).

David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherry Clair LaMore of Santa Clara, UT; daughter Vonda Kay Anderson (Mark) of New Port Richey, FL; daughter Robyn Renee' Harris (John) of Cedar City, UT; grandchildren William Ryden Starnes (Asma), Benjamin David Harris, Clinton David Starnes, James Daniel Harris (Caitlin Gentry Hanson), Rebekah Grace Shackley, Aaron John Harris; great-grandson Braylon Starnes; brother Michael LaMore (Ruth) of Cashton, WI, and many deeply loved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as beloved lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Annette Eastman, and brothers Dennis LaMore, Ronald LaMore, James LaMore, and Harold LaMore.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care provided by Nurse Johanna of Integrated Home Health and Hospice, who went above and beyond expectations to become almost a member of the family, serving and caring for each of us in turn, while fulfilling her duties to our father with professionalism and efficiency.

According to David's wishes, there will be no public service or internment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital or The Gideons International.
