Dean Williams Harman died Monday evening December 22, 2025, in St. George, UT. He was 89 years old. Dean was born in Salt Lake City, UT on April 22, 1936, to Orvin Harman and Virginia Bunker who proceeded him in death. He was also proceeded in death by his three sisters, Shirley, Maurine, Deon and daughter-in-law, Babette Harman (Plowman).
Dean is survived by his wife, Maurine Labrum. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple over 70 years ago. He is also survived by his 3 sons, Douglas (Anna), Scott (Kaylene), Bryan and daughter, Debra (Kim Anerson).
Dean graduated from Cyprus High School and Brigham Young University. He taught at the Liahona High School in Nukualofa, Tonga following his graduation from BYU. He and Maurine lived in Tonga for two and half years where they welcomed their second and third sons. Dean also worked on the road crew during summers with W.W. Gardner and Staker Construction.
Dean had a passion for teaching and returned to Cyprus where he remained for the next 36 years following his return from Tonga. He had a passion for his family and loved playing, watching and coaching football and basketball. He once returned a kick-off for a touchdown playing for the Freshman team at BYU against the University of Utah.
Dean played fast pitch softball for both church and recreation leagues and loved playing ball with his boys and took great pride in watching each of his children excel in their education and activities.
Dean will be remembered by those who know him well as a man of integrity and hard work. These traits carried over to several church callings. He loved to serve, but don't ask him to speak or pray in public!
A viewing will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah on Monday, December 29 from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. with a Celebration of Life following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m.
