Our beloved mother, Deborah Holland Millet, 70, passed away December 4, 2025 after a 6-month battle with pancreatic cancer. In Debbie's defense, the cancer had a head start and got a few good sucker punches in before she was aware the battle was even going on. Debbie was born August 31, 1955, in St. George, Utah to Frank Dennis Holland and Alice Bentley Holland. Her father was so thrilled by her birth he handed out silver dollars. She was the apple of his eye and he doted on her constantly. He always called her his "Little Deb." Her brothers, Dennis and Jeff, were teenagers when she was born, and she was a treasured little sister to them. At 6 years old, Deb attended the Church of England Girls School while her parents served in the British Isles mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Epsom, England, and later in Mountain View, California. After returning from their mission, Debbie attended East Elementary, Woodward Jr. High, and graduated from Dixie High School 1973. She enjoyed life in Dixie (the St. George area) playing with cousins, having weenie roasts on the Red Hill, making trips to Pine Valley, and grabbing a Pepsi at Judd's Store.
Debbie graduated from Dixie College in 1975 and received her elementary education degree from Southern Utah State College in 1977. She married Golden Clarence Millet in the St. George Temple on July 1, 1977 and they started their life in Marsing, Idaho. Even though she was many miles and in a very different climate from Dixie, she loved the wonderful people in the community. It was the perfect place to raise their 5 children. Golden and Debbie operated a successful commercial beekeeping and honey business. Their home was sometimes referred to as the McMillet farm as it was home to chickens, cows, horses, pigs, elk, dogs, kittens, bees, and even a few snakes. While her children were in high school, Debbie worked as a Career and Scholarship Specialist to spend more time with her kids at Marsing High School. After her children graduated, Debbie returned to Dixie to take care of her aging mother. Debbie and Golden later divorced but remained friends who were dedicated to loving and supporting their children and grandchildren. Deb chose to always look for the good in other people and had a positive influence on those around her. She shared her light, humor, and love to students and staff at Dixie College/Utah Tech University where she worked as the Assistant to the Dean of Students. Deb always had a funny quote or shoulder to cry on for anyone that needed someone to talk to.
Deb was an incredible mother and took joy in being with her children and grandchildren. Deb had a talent for tole painting, crafts, and making her home a joy to be in. She loved to travel with her friends, coworkers, and family. She served her community as an EMT with the Marsing ambulance and on countless committees for family reunions and her graduating high school class of '73. She served her family, friends, and neighbors in many kind and loving ways. Upon retirement, she found her social calendar filled to the brim with the gals of '73, Snow family lunches, temple visits, and attending performances with friends.
Deb had a great knowledge and testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and helped many others come to know Him as she served faithfully in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as primary president, relief society president, young women's advisor, gospel doctrine teacher, and various other callings in her wards and stakes. She loved serving in the Boise, Idaho and St. George, Utah temples.
Deborah is survived by her brothers, Dennis and Jeffrey Holland to whom she will always be known as the "baby sister." Her posterity includes 5 Children; Michelle Reading (spouse Jeff; children: Joshua; {spouse Erin: child: Oakley}, Alicia, Nathan), Jonathan Millet (spouse Sheila; child: Stewart), Travis Millet (spouse Michelle; children: Peter, Benjamin, Nora), Jennifer Martinsen (spouse Ben; children: Taiz, Paxton, Callen, Lincoln), Brooke Hess (spouse Markus; children: McKenzie, Alvin, Russell, Kimball, Upton, Sarah, Samuel, Joy) in total, 19 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. She cherished her many sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Deb has many friends and family who have anxiously awaited her return on the other side of the veil. Especially her father, Frank Holland, her mother, Alice Bentley Holland, her brother, Scott Holland, grandson, Samuel Hess, and great-granddaughter, Oakley Reading.
She was such a sweet treat and joy in all of our lives. In lieu of flowers and to honor her memory, Deb requested that you show love to yourself and others by treating yourself to your favorite sweet treat or taco while reminiscing a memory of her.
