Donald D. Clark (known to most as Don) was born on December 28, 1928, in Cedar City, Utah, to Daniel Brown Clark and Erma Leona Gudmundson Clark. He was the oldest of four sons, followed by John Calvert, Howard Dexter, and Malcolm G.
Don passed away on July 29, 2025, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 96.
Don's early years were spent in Cedar City, where he began elementary school. At age 14, the family moved to Ely, Nevada, as his father expanded the family's sheep and cattle ranching operations. Don graduated from White Pine High School in 1947, then worked alongside his father and brothers in their ranchlands surrounding Ely, Lund, and Eureka. He fondly remembered these years-ranch work, sheep herders, the dogs, the camp cooks, the hunting trips, and traveling with his father to California horse races.
On January 24, 1953, Don married Donna Gay Jensen in St. George Temple. Together they had five children: Donald Robert Clark, Kathryn Clark (Joe Ingersol), Richard J. Clark (Erin), Rebecca Clark (Rick Crookston), and Melissa Clark (Scott Stephens). The young couple lived in Lund for a time while working in the family's agricultural operations.
In 1954, Don was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years-first at Fort Ord, California, and then in France, where he worked as a truck driver in the post-war occupation forces.
Following his service, Don pursued higher education. He attended Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor's degree in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry in 1959. The family then moved to San Francisco, where Don earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of California, San Francisco in 1963. That same year, the Clarks relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Don began his dental practice.
Tragically, Donna passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 1969. Her loss was a profound moment in Don's life. Later that year, Don met Evadean Robison Iroz in Las Vegas, and they were married on August 21, 1970. Their marriage united two families - Don's five children and Evadean's six: Dan Hank Iroz, Marijeanne Iroz (Michael Carter), John Martin Iroz (Renee), Venita Louisa Iroz (Bart Wiscombe), Jeanne Iroz (Karl Robertson), and David Edmond Iroz (Jill). Together, Don and Evadean welcomed two more sons: Jared D. Clark and Daniel Jason Clark (Angela).
One of Don and Evadean's greatest challenges came when their son Jared suffered a near-drowning accident that resulted in severe brain injury. With tireless love and devotion, they cared for Jared throughout his life until his passing at age 21 on August 8, 1998.
Don continued to practice dentistry for over 42 years, later establishing a branch office in Overton after he and Evadean moved to Logandale. He was a beloved and meticulous family dentist, respected by patients and peers alike.
Throughout his life, Don enjoyed time at the family cabin on Panguitch Lake, deer hunting, horseraces, woodworking, leathercraft, bullet reloading, and making pens on his lathe. He was also passionate about BYU sports, the San Francisco 49ers, FOX News, and old Westerns. He and Evadean worked for years together at the dental office. In retirement, they loved family gatherings, traveling together, and serving in church callings, including 7 years as ordinance workers in the Las Vegas Temple.
Don's keen intellect and extraordinary memory were among his most defining qualities. Even in his later years, he could recall dates, names, places, trivia, and stories in remarkable detail. Though he often joked about his forgetfulness, those who knew him well were in awe of his encyclopedic knowledge and unquenchable curiosity.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Evadean; their children Dan, Marijeanne, Donald, Kathryn, John, Richard, Venita, Rebecca, Jeanna, Melissa, Jason, with 59 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, his sons Jared D. Clark and David Edmond Iroz, and grandson Isaac Iroz.
