Donald Maurice Nuttall (Don) was born August 20, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away on April 11, 2026, in the presence of loved ones. He was the first child of Maurice and Margaret Lyon Nuttall. His first years were spent in Overton, Nevada. In 1938, his family moved to Hurricane, Utah where his father was the principal of Hurricane High School. He attended all of his primary school years in Hurricane and graduated from high school in 1951 as one of three valedictorians. He was active in many extracurricular activities. He received the Diamond H and the outstanding graduating athlete awards upon graduation. He attended Brigham Young University, Dixie College, University of Indiana and BYU again, graduating with honors in 1957 with a BS degree in accounting. While attending Dixie College for two quarters he played football and basketball. He was selected to the Region 9 all-tournament team in basketball. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from California State College at Fullerton.

 Don married Joyce Christian in the Saint George Temple in June 1954. Together they had four children. He served in the US Army from June of 1955 to March of 1957. He began his career in 1957 working for a small certified public accounting (CPA) firm in Provo, Utah. He became a CPA in 1957. He later worked for an advertising firm in Salt Lake City, a national CPA firm in Tucson, Arizona, and in 1966 became the City Treasurer and Finance Director for the City of Santa Fe Springs, California. He retired from the city in 1995. He also taught accounting classes at California Polytechnic University at Pomona and at California State University at Long Beach while living in Whittier California.

Don was active in a number of professional organizations. He served as President of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers. He also received an outstanding service award from that organization. He served on the National Council for Governmental Accounting from 1974 until 1980 and served as President in 1979-80. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Municipal Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada and as a member of the Governmental Auditing Committee of the American Institute of CPAs.

 He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including a counselor in a bishopric, a high councilman, and as a Bishop of a Young Single Adult ward. He played for and coached many church athletic teams. He played basketball in the All-Church tournament in 1953 and coached youth teams that won the consolation championship in basketball in 1967 and the championship in fast-pitch softball in 1968 and again in 1969.

 Upon his retirement in 1995, he and his wife Joyce moved back to Saint George where he lived until his death. His wife of 54 years passed away in January of 2009. In August of 2009 he married Madge Dee Morgan. Many men are lucky to find one good woman. He was blessed to find two.

 He was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce, his parents and sister Chrstine (Mark) Isom. He is survived by his wife Madge Dee Morgan Nuttall. He is also survived by his 4 children - Julie Thornton, Darren (Penny), Dianne (Mike) Seegmiller, Kellan (Annie), And Teri (Gary) Bylund. And his siblings Gordon (LaRee), Carolyn (George) Le Baron, Arlene (Don) Huber, Margaret (Peggy) (Ferron) Leavitt, Vicci (Bob) Gappmayer, Roger (Jan). He had 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He also had step children, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.  

 A viewing will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. The funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the St. George City Cemetery.
