Ellen Bringhurst
February 21, 1952 - January 11, 2026

Ellen Ellsworth Bringhurst was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 21, 1952 to Reed Wanslee Ellsworth, a rancher who died when Ellen was 8 years old and Laurel Peterson Ellsworth, an educator whom Ellen patterned her life after. Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter and a cherished friend in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Ellen's two children, Neisha and Kade, were the center of her life and her great source of pride, as were her beloved grandchildren: Josh (Brianna), Parker (Emeri), Alex, Marcus, Rhett (Katie), Laynee (Bryce), Addison and Jayde and great-grandchildren Ella and Jane.

Ellen met her sweetheart, Douglas Bringhurst, at BYU, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 3, 1974. They raised their two children in Hurricane and then settled in Winchester Hills. She had many friends and fun times swimming and attending the temple with them.

Ellen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served when and wherever she was asked and saw the need. Most recently, Ellen was serving in the St. George Temple, one of her favorite places to serve and to be.

Ellen most loved time with her family. She enjoyed a good visit, playing games, her monthly sibling chat, and family reunions. Kolob mountain held her heart. She loved being there with Doug, her kids and grandkids. She was known for always having candy and soda on hand for the grandkids and was always ready to play a game.

Ellen was an amazing, award-winning artist. She loved to read and has an extensive library in her home. She was always up for a craft, family history, swimming, or a ride on her side by side, "Little Red". She loved walking on the beach, playing in the snow, and horseback riding. Her knowledge was unmatched. If she hadn't read and learned about a topic yet, she would.

Her greatest knowledge was that of her Savior Jesus Christ in whose arms she now rests. Her eternal marriage to her sweetheart Doug and the family they have together are her greatest blessings.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her loving husband Doug, children Neisha (Steve) Johnson and Kade (Lisa) Bringhurst, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mother-in-law Jewell Bringhurst, nine siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
