With peaceful hearts we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Emily Brian Lee, on March 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Emily spent her remaining days in Hurricane, Utah, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved caretakers.
Emily was born on August 9, 1936, to Reed Bastian Brian and Marjorie White. Some of her fondest childhood memories involved dancing, farming, sewing, and baking with her 10 siblings: Julia, Dudley, Robert, Stanley, Harry, Pamela, Reed Jr. (deceased), Sheila, Michelle, and Debbie. She married the love of her life, David Arthur Lee, on August 31, 1956. Together they spent most of their married life in Boulder City, Nevada, with their two children, Linda (Hafen) and Doug.
Her greatest sources of joy were found in her faith and family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many callings and enjoyed serving others. Raising her children and supporting her grandchildren were Emily's greatest priorities and counted as her most important successes. Whether it be sporting events, recitals, scouting, church programs, or school ceremonies, she was fully invested and made it a priority to attend. Additionally, she placed importance on family gatherings, holidays, and traditions. Sunday Family Home Evening, Christmas Eve, Easter, and 4th of July were highly celebrated and loved by all.
Education was a lifelong passion. She graduated as valedictorian from Wayne High School and received a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She devoted her life to teaching. Emily spent over two decades as a teacher for the Clark County School District. Upon retirement, she continued to spend many years tutoring young children in her home in Boulder City, NV.
A legacy of love, faith, and service will live on through her children: Linda Hafen (Russell) and Doug (Robin); her 7 grandchildren; and her 17 great-grandchildren.
A private family visitation will be held March 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Spilsbury Mortuary (110 S. Bluff St. in St. George, UT). Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM and all are welcome. Emily will be laid to rest on Monday, March 23 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 435-673-2454.
