Fred Martin Wright was born February 18, 1937, in Panaca, Nevada. He married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Tanner, in 1954. During this union they had Sherrie Wright (Ricky), Fred Allen Wright (Heidi), David Lynn Wright (Lynette), Bradley Eugene Wright (Debbie), and Julie Wright (Keith). He later divorced, re-married and divorced, after having had Colton Wright (Maru).
Fred then met the love of his life, Sue Gubler, in 1990, and he loved all of her children as his own: Codie Miller (Jen), Travis Gubler (Staci), and Shalece Cowley (Dustin).
Fred was a very talented tile mason and shared a business with his brother, Bob Wright, for a period of time. Then he went out on his own where he taught all of his kids the skills of the trade while they were growing up, including his wife, Sue, who was right there by his side.
Fred was an avid member of the Lions Club and the Elks Lodge in both Cedar City and St. George, Utah. He loved to ride horses, golf, fish, camp, hunt, and enjoyed all types of sports with his kids and participated as their coach and mentor, not to mention he was a GREAT singer and loved to 2-step with Sue.
Those who knew Dad knew he was no saint, and he certainly doesn't want to hear embellished stories about him. However, he did give some invaluable lessons to be learned: he defeated alcoholism and became a better family man; he then defeated smoking and showed us all that you can improve your health; he defeated Squamous Cell Carcinoma cancer that had grown on his right vocal cord and Fred was banging the gong for defeating cancer at the cancer center only 2 short months ago. We all thought he would now live to be 100!
Unfortunately, someone upstairs thought Dad needed to be up there, and he was unable to overcome the car accident only a block away from his home. He succumbed to those injuries on April 9, 2026.
Dad was the 4th of 6 children, namely Nona Wright (Lorraine Gillins), Bob Wright (Carol), Clark Wright (Edna), Jimmy Wright (Betty) and Denny Wright (Sandy). All but his brother, Jimmy, are currently having a reunion with Dad in heaven as we speak, along with his grandson, Jake Wright. I'm sure those two are playing golf right now.
Dad has 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
