Ivins

Ivins, Utah - John Anthony Breaux, 64, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023. He was born May 17, 1958, in San Diego, California to Edgar Earl Breaux and Barbara Allen Breaux. He married Bonnie Marie Barlow in December of 1981 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had four beautiful daughters: Amberly Ann, Laura Marie, Rebecca Lauren, and Rachael Elizabeth. They divorced in 1996. In June of 2000, he married Brenda Tuttle Slade who had five children. They divorced in 2011. Brenda and her children will forever be a blessing in the lives of John’s daughters.

John graduated from Patrick Henry high school in San Diego. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his senior year of high school. He loved to share the message of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a gift for reaching out to the downtrodden and serving those in need. At age 19, John served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada. After his mission, he attended Brigham Young University where he met his beautiful wife, Bonnie. John enjoyed playing tennis and racketball.  He loved being outdoors. He spent as much time as possible at the beach or in the mountains. He enjoyed taking his girls hiking, fishing, and camping. John has lived in Utah, Arizona, California, and Colorado. He had several careers, but his favorite was his business coaching and consulting company, Vision Quest. John had a gift for writing and often used poetry to express himself.  He had a special heart, particularly toward those in need, and he believed that God loved all his children no matter their circumstances, weakness, or imperfections. John would frequently take his daughters to serve in the homeless shelter at Christmas and other times throughout the year. In 2013, John was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage-4 lymphoma. His fighting spirit sustained him through brutal chemotherapy, resulting in complete remission within a year. His family is grateful for the ten years of life after his cancer.

John is survived by his children: Amberly Meeker, her husband, Charles Meeker, and their children, Cayden, Emma, Grace, and Mason; Laura Tervort, her husband, Dave Tervort, and their children, David, Savannah, Elise, Ethan, Anson, Benjamin, and Eliza; Rebecca Eliason, her husband Quinton Eliason, and their children, Cash, George, and Olivia; and Rachael McBeth, her husband, Justin McBeth, and son Noah McBeth, as well as his siblings: Perry and Rosemary Thompson, Harry Breaux, Richard and Ana Breaux, and George and Katie Whittle. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Edgar Earl Breaux and Barbara Wayne Allen, his sister, Suzanne Glasow, and his sister-in-law, Wendy Breaux.
