Karen Gonzales, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in Hurricane, Utah.
Karen was born on October 13, 1945, in Long Beach, California, to Acel John Landon and Lula Bingham Landon. She was raised in Long Beach and graduated from Jordan High School. On March 17, 1978, she married the love of her life, Jerry Gonzales, in Long Beach, California. Together they shared many adventures and created a lifetime of cherished memories.
Throughout their marriage, Karen and Jerry lived in several communities, including Eureka and Arcata, California; Price, Utah; Ashton and Island Park, Idaho; Ashland, Oregon; and Flagstaff, Arizona. In 2017, they retired and made their home in Hurricane, Utah.
Karen was a dedicated and hardworking woman. During her life she worked as a secretary for Douglas Aircraft and later as a delivery driver. However, she found her true calling as a teacher aide, where her love for children and her nurturing spirit made a lasting impact on countless students and families.
Karen had a deep love for children and found joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and serving faithfully in her many church callings. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she lived her faith through service, kindness, and devotion to others.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Gonzales of Hurricane, Utah; daughter, Annie VanMeter (Aaron) and their children, Jayden, Jacob, Mackenzie, Madison; son, Travis Gonzales; daughter, Lori Leavitt (fiancé Seth Green) and her children, Isaac, Keanu, Logan, Noah, and Lilly; and sister, Marilyn Maygren (Dwight) and their children, Bryce, Riley, Hallie, and Carly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Acel John and Lula Bingham Landon.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 25 North 2000 West, Hurricane, Utah 84737.
