Maria Louise English

Maria Louise English, 74, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. She was born on December 1, 1951, in Maywood, California, to Joseph Frederick Bowley and Maxine Emily Bowley (maiden name, Bell).

Maria graduated from Bell High School in Southern California. Shortly after high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Scott Charles English. Together they had three children. Although the marriage later ended in divorce, Maria never remarried.

Maria lived in La Mirada and Romoland, California, before moving to Perris, California, following her divorce. She built a successful career as a Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer. Later, she accepted a position in Las Vegas, Nevada, continuing her work in building inspection and code enforcement. After retiring, Maria moved to Southern Utah.

Maria loved to travel and created many cherished memories with her family. She enjoyed a two-week cruise to Hawaii with her grandsons Joseph and Justin, traveled to the Florida Keys and the Bahamas with her daughter Taunya, and took a fall trip to Vermont and New Hampshire with Taunya and her husband Adrian, and her grandsons. She also went on a 16-day cruise to Alaska with Taunya and three of her grandsons.

She had a deep love for animals and especially enjoyed spending time with her dogs. Maria found joy in yard work, trips to Zion for hiking, and she very much enjoyed gambling and traveling.

Maria is survived by her former husband, Scott Charles English, and his wife Nancy of Toquerville, Utah; her three children: son Zachary Scott English and his wife Noel of Hurricane, Utah; daughter Taunya Marie Rangel and her husband Adrian of Toquerville, Utah; and son Joseph Vernon English and his wife Jenna of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eli Rangel of Vineyard, Utah; Anthony Rangel of Toquerville, Utah; Joseph English and his wife Gina of Temecula, California; and Justin Bunch and his wife Emily of Calimesa, California.

Her great-grandchildren include Noelle Sip-Rangel of Hurricane, Utah; Lacie and Delilah English of Temecula, California; and Hayden, Tyler, Lucy, and Bryson Bunch of Calimesa, California.

Maria is also survived by her sisters, Linda Worthy and her husband John of Sun City, California, and Cindy Cavalieri of Sonora, California; cousins Vonnie Marsh and Marsha Haynes; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Frederick Bowley and Maxine Emily Bowley.
