Max Proctor

January 28, 1941 — January 15, 2023

Max Proctor, “Mad Max” to those who knew him, was reunited with the love of his life on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was 81 years old.
Max was the second child and eldest son of Thomas “Sarge” and Ramona Proctor. He was born January 28, 1941, in Panguitch, Utah. Max was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and photography, along with motorcycles, sailboats, and dune buggies.
Max married Patricia Strickland in July of 1960 and found an avid companion in his explorations. Max and Pat moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1963 and he began a productive career as an electrician in the casinos of Las Vegas. Max was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 501 and spent countless hours teaching and training apprentices who keep the lights of Las Vegas shining bright.
In 2004, Max and Pat moved to Idaho, where they explored many back trails and byways, and took many photos of bears and moose. Max and Pat celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2010. Seven years later Pat passed away, and Max moved to St. George.
His twilight years were spent at Southgate Care Facility, where he had many friends and touched many lives.
Max is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat; his parents, Tom and Ramona Proctor; his younger sister, Valerie Pearson; younger brother, Kim Proctor; along with two sisters-in-law (Lucy Isom & Judi Minniear) and five brothers-in-law (Gerold Witters, Jack Isom, Ned Leavitt, Bobby Sorden, and Rodney Pearson). He is survived by his elder sister, Shanna Witters, daughter Teresa (Richard) Jervis, son Robert (Dee) Proctor, in-laws Bill & Janet Strickland, brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” Minniear, sister-in-law Charlene Leavitt, sister-in-law Mary Sorden, and granddaughter, Faith Proctor.
A viewing will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St, in St. George, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. A small graveside service will then be held in Panguitch, Utah on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11 A.M.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to all who took care of Max in his later years, and to Spilsbury Mortuary for preparing Max for his next adventure.
