HURRICANE, Utah — Michael Eugene Murphy, age 65, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026.
Michael was born on December 5, 1960, in Washington, D.C., to Arianna Silas and Carroll Murphy. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Irving and Nettie Silas, whose guidance and care helped shape the man he became.
On June 27, 1983, Michael married the love of his life, Melinda Bloomquist, in Vallejo, California. Together they built a family centered on love, laughter, and devotion.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enlisted in Buffalo, New York, on June 28, 1979, and dedicated twenty years of honorable service before retiring on June 30, 1999. His service was recognized with numerous awards and commendations, including the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Fourth Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with three awards.
Michael was committed to lifelong learning and professional excellence, completing specialized military training in Auxiliary Systems Technology, Engineering Hydraulic Systems and Components, Instructor Training School, and Total Quality Leadership.
Outside of his military career, Michael's greatest passions were his family, music, sports, and barbecue. He loved baseball, football, and hockey, and he eagerly shared that love with his sons, family members, and any neighborhood child who wanted to join a game. Whether cheering on a favorite team, grilling for family gatherings, or enjoying good music, Michael brought people together with his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
