Nedra Kimball

Listen to Obituary

Nedra Halverson Kimball was born October 23, 1930, in Glendale, California to Thomas Lyman Halverson and Pearl Janet Hanks. Nedra passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on January 17, 2026, in Spanish Fork, Utah surrounded by her family and loved ones. Nedra married Ralph Hodges Kimball, the love of her life, on March 7, 1952 in the Logan, Utah LDS temple.

Ralph and Nedra lived in numerous places while Ralph served in the Air Force including Utah, Texas, Puerto Rico and Missouri while they grew their family. They had 8 beautiful children and eventually settled and raised their children in Walnut, California. Many people called the Kimball home their own, and Nedra was the heart of that home. She lived a life defined by optimism, love, and service to others. She had an incredible gift for seeing the good in every situation and every person. Her positivity was constant and contagious, and her home and heart were always open. To many, she was not only a mother and grandmother, but a "mom to all," a caretaker, a trusted confidant, and a steady source of encouragement. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived her life of service according to the values she held dear. She once said, "callings brought heartache, joy, and learning. I've learned something new from every calling, but most of all I have seen and felt guidance and peace from the Lord."

Known for her welcoming spirit, Nedra was a natural hostess and an enthusiastic tour guide. She had an incredible memory delighting in sharing places, life stories, and experiences with all who were lucky enough to stop by her home and listen. As an avid reader with the constant drive to learn, she was a fun wealth of knowledge on any topic. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and at home. Her life was a quiet testimony of love in action-through service, kindness, and an abiding faith that carried her through every season. She had an obvious joy when it came to greeting cards. She loved to give them and held onto the cards received until they bowed with age. Through December of 2025 she was still making sure that birthday cards with a $5.00 bill made it to the home of every one of her great-grandchildren.

Upon retirement, Ralph and Nedra moved to St. George, Utah where they thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of southern Utah. Little did they know what a perfect location St. George was for all the family and Walnut friends to visit.

Nedra's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely. May we all be lucky enough to live our lives with as much optimism and gratitude as she did. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 58 years, Ralph H. Kimball; by her sons, Ralph Allen Kimball and Kelly Lynn Kimball; and by her granddaughter Kelsey Bird. Their absence was deeply felt, yet Nedra continued to move forward with faith, grace, and unwavering love for others.

Nedra is survived by her children: Daughter-in-law Claudia Kimball, Janet (Roger) Bird, Grant (Brenda) Kimball, Daughter-in-law Diane Kimball, David (Karen) Kimball, Kevin (Teresa) Kimball, Linda (David) Weeks, Ted Kimball and honorary sons Terry Huggins and Tony Buzzerio. She was a proud grandmother to 31 grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to 70 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
