Niki Ahlquist Sampson

Niki Ahlquist Sampson, born on July 1, 1977, to Merlin Terry and Concha Ahlquist, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Her unexpected departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. From a young age, Niki radiated warmth and kindness—qualities that only deepened as she grew older. She grew up in Murray with her two siblings Mindy and Cody where they got to enjoy a wonderful childhood together.

In 1995, Niki graduated from Murray High School. She later attended Dixie College, where she earned an Associate’s of Science degree. Her lifelong aspiration was to become a schoolteacher and was one semester shy of completing her Bachelor’s degree prior to her marriage in June 1997. Niki was blessed with three loving children—Shaley, Alex, and Brady—who became the legacy of her life. She was a devoted mother, and her love for her children was boundless. Her dedication to their happiness and well-being never wavered, as she nurtured them into the remarkable people they are today.

Many of Niki’s fondest memories were created in Redmond at her parents’ home, where she spent much of her time with her children. This place brought her immense joy and will always be remembered as her happy place. From watching movies with homemade popcorn, riding four wheelers, and playing countless games with the cousins and family. Redmond always held a special place in her heart.

Niki’s passion for innovation and creative problem-solving led her to a successful career in business. She was the heart and soul of her various organizations, known for her brilliance, creativity, and unmatched strength. Niki’s exceptional accounting and organizational skills, coupled with her keen eye for detail, set her apart. Her unwavering dedication and innovative thinking left an indelible mark, inspiring everyone who had the honor of working alongside her.

The family cherished their time traveling the world together, creating an unbreakable bond. She was well traveled visiting over 30 countries. She was able to spend individual time with each of her children taking them on special trips. These were some of her fondest memories as there was never a dull moment with her around.

Niki lovingly jumped into the grandmother role to Eli and later became a biological grandmother to Brighton and Tate. Being a grandmother was special to her as they were the light of her life. She embraced her newest role, spending the last year building the strongest, and everlasting connection with Brighton. Watching her devote herself to her grandchildren was a testament to the kind of mother she had been to her own children. Although she had only just begun her journey as a grandmother, we know she will continue to watch over them and any future grandchildren with love and care.

Niki’s gentle spirit and infectious laughter touched everyone around her. She had a unique ability to make people feel seen and valued, and her friendships reflected her genuine, caring nature. Her sense of humor, affectionately known as “Nikisms,” made everyone smile. Niki was often the brightest person in the room, and her vibrant energy was felt by all. She had a special gift for reading the energy of a room and lifting everyone’s spirits.

Niki’s family will hold a viewing Saturday September 14th from 3-5pm at Spilsbury Mortuary. The funeral services will be Sunday September 15th at 10am (25 North 300 West Washington Utah 84780). A private luncheon in will be provided for close family and friends afterwards. We are honoring Niki by wearing vibrant colors to represent her charismatic energy and abundance of joy.

Though Niki’s time with us was far too short, her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into our lives.

Niki was preceded in death by her father, Merlin Terry Ahlquist.
