Patricia Haynes

Pattie returned to her Heavenly Father's loving presence on August 20, 2025, two days before her 85th birthday.

Pattie, born to William and Elizabeth (Todd) Meehan in Orange, New Jersey, was the eldest of four siblings. The family moved to Burlington, North Carolina when Pattie was very young, and she was raised there. Marrying early, Pattie gave birth to three sons: David, Joseph, and Ricky Norton. The marriage subsequently dissolved, and Pattie relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she met and married Richard Haynes in 1982, remaining his loving and devoted wife for 42 ½ years. As a consequence of Richard's profession, they moved frequently between the years of 1984 and 2005, residing in San Diego, CA; Laurel, MO; Seattle, WA; Houston, TX; McLean, VA; and Destin, FL, prior to settling in St. George, UT.

At each new residence, Pattie industriously applied herself to establishing handsomely comfortable, smoothly functioning, and emotionally nurturing households. Pattie embraced each new community, immersing herself in its history and culture. She inevitably, while so integrating herself in the new locale, would meet individuals having singular challenges imposed by circumstance or age. Pattie would befriend these individuals and unselfishly provide support, assistance, and, when needed, a comforting shoulder to rest on.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1977, Pattie participated in services and functions at each new ward or branch and, at almost all, received callings that she earnestly undertook and successfully fulfilled.

Pattie possessed a wealth of creativeness, and that-coupled with her intelligence and abundant determination-gave rise to several hobbies and home businesses which flourished and brought added beauty to the world they impacted. Prominent among these were her success as a photographer and author. Pattie's photography efforts resulted in praise by peers, awards at shows, and the inspiration of others to seek self-expression through photography. Pattie's writings resulted in several published articles and short stories, and the publication of two well-received books: A Bridge to the Mainland and A Hummingbird Miracle.

One regret Pattie had was that her photography interests laid dormant until later in her life when restricted mobility curtailed her ability to access many of nature's more photogenic areas. Now, "sweetness," you will be able to access all, see all, and do all.

Your passing leaves a vacuum in my life and that of many, many others that cannot be filled until we once again are united. Until then-Go with God.
