Ralph Herbert Lowther

Ralph Herbert Lowther, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and lifelong public servant, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in St. George, Utah. He was born on February 20, 1936, to Bert and Goldie Lowther, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and service that would define his life.

At just 17 years old, Ralph answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably for 14 years, including deployments during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his time in the Marines, his dedication to service continued with eight additional years in the Air Force Reserves. His military career was marked by courage, discipline, and sacrifice, earning him numerous awards and citations-though he rarely spoke of them, preferring humility over recognition.

Ralph's commitment to protecting and serving others extended into civilian life through a distinguished 23-year career with the Arizona Highway Patrol. Whether in uniform or at home, he lived with a deep sense of duty and compassion, spending his entire life helping others and making his community a safer place. He was an extraordinary public servant who led by quiet example.

He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Patsy Melton Lowther, the love of his life. Married for 64 years, their bond was one of devotion, partnership, and enduring love-a true testament to a life shared fully and faithfully.

Ralph was a dedicated and loving father to Cathleen Sue Potorius and Kenneth Ray Lowther, who will forever cherish his guidance, strength, and unwavering support. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren-Chris, Jennifer, Sarah, Jeremy, Mindy, and Alicia-and a joyful great-grandfather to many great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and happiness.

In the last six years of his life, Ralph was surrounded by family who adored him deeply. He was cherished beyond measure, and his absence leaves a space that words cannot fill.

Ralph Herbert Lowther lived a life of honor, service, humility, and love. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the family he treasured, and the example he set for generations to come.

A graveside service and military honors will be held on Saturday, February 7 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Ivins City Cemetery.
