Randall Holt

Enterprise, Utah - Randall Jay Holt, age 59, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 9, 2024, due to a liver infection. He was born October 12, 1965, in St. George, Utah to Robert Jay and JoAnn Holt. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Randall was raised on the family farm where he was taught the value of hard work. After he graduated from Enterprise High in 1983, he served a two-year mission for the Church in Washington D.C. Upon returning from his mission, Randall attended Brigham Young University. He graduated with a degree in accounting while taking night classes learning about computers.

He met the love of his life, DeeDee Johnson, while attending school. They were married August 5, 1988, in the St. George, Utah Temple. Randall was always proud of DeeDee and the family they raised.

Upon graduation, Randall worked with accounting information systems in Portland, Oregon. He brought his skills back to the family farm where he raised eight children: three sons and five daughters. He loved taking his children to the farm and would train each of them on various machines and equipment.

In 1994, Randall installed the first computer system in Enterprise High School. Parts of the system are still used today.

Randall was instrumental in improving water rights' management in the Escalante Valley. He worked with state officials, including the state engineer, to develop a system that incentivized water conservation. His efforts in water conservation were recently featured in TIME magazine. He was also a leader in innovative agricultural technologies and was a resource for many regarding GPS, computer, and other technical systems in the Utah farming community.

Family and friends often came to Randall for his rational advice. His wisdom came from experience and effort. He was endearing to be around, and would often invite family and friends over for a farm tour with tractor rides, a dairy tour to see the baby calves, or dinner with his signature ribs.

Randall will be dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. He is survived by his wife, DeeDee, his children Tanner (Sarah) Holt, Kevin (Kayla) Holt, CarolLee (Farnes) Egbert, JayLynn (Justin) Walker, Jackie Holt, Joel Holt, JoLynn (Ashton) Green, and Jessica (Ben) Daley, nine grandchildren, his father Robert (Margie) Holt, his father and mother-in-law (Mike and Carol Johnson) five brothers, seven sisters, several brother and sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Holt and his sister JoLynn Holt.

Funeral services will be held at the Enterprise, Utah Stake Center on November 16 at 11:00 am. Viewings will be held Friday, November 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, November 16 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the same location. Interment will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery.
