Listen to Obituary

Richard Alan Stanley, 81 years old, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Richard was born on June 13, 1944 in Mt. Claire, West Virginia to Harry Ray and Laura Frances (Weekley) Stanley. Richard married his sweetheart, Carol Ann Braham on July 3, 1964 in Randolph Township, Ohio.

Richard grew up moving between West Virginia and Ohio as a middle child with two older brothers and a younger sister and brother. He loved to share stories of his youthful years working as a water boy at the sawmill, as a caddie at the golf course, and mowing lawns, but his favorite topic was probably talking about all the cars that he and his brothers drove and worked on. Before graduating high school, he snuck off to Texas to live with his two older brothers who were stationed there in the Army. His big brothers were his heroes, and he wanted to be wherever they were. His love of cars led him to a career working for the Chrysler Corporation at the Twinsburg, Ohio Stamping Plant from the age of 21 until his retirement. He started out as a janitor and worked multiple labor positions until he was accepted into the journeyman's program and became a tool and die maker. Richard and Carol were blessed with three daughters that came in three consecutive years and a son that followed a few years later. After retirement, he traveled and moved around the US experiencing many climates. During his retirement years he lived in Ohio, Idaho, West Virginia, Arizona, and California before settling in Southern Utah. His hobbies included attending car shows, bicycling, gardening, genealogy, and making political and picture pin-on buttons.

Richard is survived by his children, Debra (Frank) Pickett of Leadore, ID, Laura Stanley of Shelley, ID, Tabitha Stanley of Tehachapi, CA and Richard (Rachel) Stanley II of Tehachapi, CA; grandchildren, Laura Nicole Sova, Tracy Ammon Osburn, Tyler Osburn, Seth Osburn, Emma Stanley, Eliza Stanley and Jane Stanley, and great-grandchildren, Tracy Andrew, Stephanie, Kassarae, Dosanaya, Shawn and Hevynn. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Stanley, James Stanley, Judy Stanley and Gary Stanley; his wife, Carol Ann Braham Stanley; a grandson. Nathanael Richard Stanley; and a son-in-law, Tracy Allen Osburn.

He will privately be laid to rest next to his sweetheart in the Hurricane City Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held later in the summer when the members of his widespread family can meet to honor his life and legacy. Richard lived a long distance from his family members and relied heavily on the kindness and generosity of his neighbors and church-family.
