Richey J Carter, 73, St. George, Utah, passed away on September 4, 2025 with his loving wife, Char, always by his side. They were married November 7, 1995 at one of their favorite beaches in Mexico. They could always be found fishing in the ocean, listening and singing to good tunes, and relaxing together.
He cherished the outdoors, finding joy in fishing, camping, and spending time in the desert with his beloved friends. Rich was often found in his yard, working with Char to keep the grapes protected from the thieving birds, taking care of the blooms, flowers, veggies and their pluot tree.
Rich graduated from Kearns High School. His journey through life was marked by a big personality, a vibrant spirit and an undeniable work ethic. He was proud of what he did and loved his work in construction (even though it was hard work). He pursued further education with a baseball scholarship to CEU and later attended the University of Utah for a short time.
Rich was born May 28, 1952 in Mojave, Kerns County, California to Don H. Carter and Juanita Carter (both deceased). He is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Char) Berg Carter and siblings, Don (Joe) Carter and Rosie Carter; Gail Carter Jones and Tom Nelson; Donnie Carter Jordan and David Jordan; Leona Carter Kirk; Beckie Carter (deceased) and Bob Carter and cherished nieces, nephews and the best friends in the world, that always kept us on our toes and shared many a laugh.
There are many people that deserve a personal thank you, but a very special thanks goes to Megan Carter, niece, for donating a kidney that helped prolong Rich's life. Thank you to St. George Rehab Center for their care and Zion's Way Hospice for responding so quickly. Our good neighbors deserve a huge thanks also for always coming when we needed them.
As per Rich's request no funeral services are planned at this time. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his sense of humor, teasing attitude, sharp wit and the love of his yard.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, Memories of him and the joys he shared in his life will be forever in our hearts.
