Ronald Gregory Smith, 95, of Bloomington, Utah passed away after a brief stay in the hospital after sustaining an injury while working in his garden. Ron was born on December, 15, 1929 in Lakewood, OH. He spoke fondly of his youth there, attending Lakewood schools and running the streets with his group of friends causing mischief whenever possible. He attended the Staunton Military Academy during 2 of his high school years and returned to graduate from Lakewood High school. From there he attended Miami University of Ohio and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Ron left college to enlist in the US Air Force where he became a Staff Sergeant as an Air Traffic Controller during the Korean War. When stationed at Payne Field in Washington State he met and married his wife of 67 years, Jeanine (Hudson) Smith. After the Air Force, Ron and Jeanine returned home to Ohio, settling in Avon Lake to raise their family and Ron took over his father's business. Ron ran J. Gregory Smith & Son, Inc until his retirement.

Ron was not a man to sit still for very long and enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He was an avid runner, golfer, tennis player, and enjoyed cross country skiing, hiking, and gardening. He had his private pilot's license and some of his greatest joy was in his hours spent on his boat sailing Lake Erie. Ron and Jeanine had a very active social life, loved to entertain friends and were the best couple on the dance floor. Ron was famous for his ability to talk to any and every stranger, and jokes and sarcasm were his second language. He'll be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to have met him.

Ron was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Gregory Smith and Hilda Harriet (Steuber) Smith, his sister Jean Ensley, and his dear wife Jeanine. He is survived by his children, Gregory Smith (Pam), Robert Smith, Cindy Cottam (Travis), Cathy Kemski (Bryan), and Rebecca Smith; His 13 grandchildren, Dakota, Kristin, Erin, T.J. (DeeAnn), Ryan (Shelley), Chad (Tawni), Jenny, Mark, Megan (Kyle), Brad (Jordyn), Patrick (Hannah), Jessica, & Jared; and 17 great grandchildren.
