Scott Clark Hansen

Scott Clark Hansen, 78, left this life peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on February 9, 2026.

Scott was born into the C. Russell and Doris Clark Hansen family of Syracuse Utah on May 25, 1947. Scott grew up in this rural community surrounded by his Hansen aunts, uncles and cousins living the life depicted in the movie, The Sandlot. Baseball was a way of life throughout his youth and the Hansens of Syracuse were known to be some of the best baseball players in Davis and Weber counties. Scott actively played sports in high school, baseball being his favorite as well as American Legion ball and played for Weber State College on a baseball scholarship.

Scott had a passion for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing and camping with his extended Hansen family were some of his most cherished memories. He continued that same tradition with his own family but added boating to these outdoor experiences along with a lot more fishing which created lasting memories and friendships.

Scott had a strong and unwavering testimony and love for the Savior and His Gospel. He served in many callings throughout his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of his most beloved were serving a full time 2-year mission to the Great Lakes Mission, teaching Institute classes at Colorado State University and serving as Bishop of the YSA 7th ward in Cedar City. Scott was dedicated to his study of the gospel and the scriptures and set a wonderful example for his family of reading daily without exception and encouraged them to do the same.

Shortly after his mission in1969, Scott signed up to serve in the United States Army Reserve, which he considered another great experience in his life. He enjoyed the process of becoming a soldier and was proud and honored to serve his country.

Humor has always been part of Scott's DNA. He was witty, clever, funny and always had a natural ability to make you laugh. His sense of humor kept things lively, interesting and entertaining. Scott had a special gift of making friends everywhere he went. He has always surrounded himself with good people.

Scott married Sherrie Speechly in 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a wonderful life together raising three children, Matt, Lindsey and Michelle and doing everything that comes with a family. Life at the Hansen home was filled with friends, food, music, humor and fun. Our children's friends always knew they were welcome and Scott's pancakes were always a favorite anytime of the day or night for these friends whether our kids were home or not.

Scott was an entrepreneur and owned and operated a few businesses including Hansen Home Furnishings in St George with his brother Brooks. His successful career as a business owner and top sales associate at RC Willy Home Furnishings provided a wonderful life for his family. He was a hardworking, passionate and dedicated family man.

Scott traveled the world with Sherrie. They enjoyed so many of the same interests and had their favorite locations to visit on repeat. They had an exceptional and long-lasting love story. While traveling, Scott enjoyed visiting art galleries. He had an appreciation for art and became an accomplished artist in his own right, focusing on ocean and landscape scenes. His children and their families {along with many other family and friends}, are proud and grateful to have Scott's beautiful paintings in their homes. His artwork has given us many wonderful memories of places he treasured.

When one assesses one's life, you always hope you have focused it on the right things. It can be said that Scott did just that. His three children and nine grandchildren all believe they are his favorite - and they are. He loved his children's spouses, Derek, Jacob and Sonya, as his own and has appreciated their influence in his life.

Family vacations and gatherings with the whole Scott Hansen Family have always been a priority for Scott. His unwavering love for them was well known and shared often.

We will miss this amazing man who has brought so much love, humor and joy into our lives. Until we meet again.

Scott is survived by his wife Sherrie; son Matthew (Sonya); daughters Lindsey Evans (Derek) and Michelle Malie (Jacob); grandchildren Dylan (Taite), Madeline, Ella, Emmy, Dawson, Kate, Daxon, and CJ; siblings Carolyn Boone, Janice (Tom) Babcock and Brooks (Leah) Hansen. Scott is preceded in death by his parents C. Russell and Doris Hansen, brother David, sister Shelley and grandson Grey Hansen.

Funeral services will be February 20th at 11:00 AM at the LDS Meadow View Chapel located at 2668 E Crimson Ridge Dr. St George Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to the services from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery directly after the service.
