Sharon Baxter Ashton
November 2, 1940 - December 23, 2025

Sharon Baxter Ashton, a woman of grace, beauty, and unwavering devotion to her family, passed away peacefully in St George, Utah, on December 23, 2025.

Born on November 2, 1940, to Dewayne and Leona Baxter, Sharon grew up with a spirit that charmed everyone she met. During her time at Utah State University, she was crowned both State Dairy Princess and Homecoming Queen, titles that reflected not just her outward beauty, but her kindness and school spirit. Following her education, she took to the skies as a flight attendant for United Airlines, a role that sparked a lifelong love for travel and discovery.

Sharon eventually married the love of her life, Henry L. Ashton Jr. Their journey together was one of partnership and adventure. She moved to Washington, D.C., to support Henry through medical school, and later navigated the transition to military life at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, after he was drafted.

While she grew up in Hyrum, she lived in Murray for many years and eventually retired to Southern Utah with Henry, her heart was always where her family was. She was the proud mother of four boys: David (Ashley), Michael (Kathryn), Christopher (Laura), and Andrew (Molly). Sharon took immense joy in her role as a matriarch, eventually welcoming 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren into her life.

Beyond her family, Sharon was a woman of refined tastes and creative passions. She was an avid collector of art, a skilled gardener who found peace in the soil, and a traveler who never lost her curiosity about the world.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Dewayne and Leona, and her sister, Tonnya. She is survived by her loving husband, Henry; her four sons and their families; and her siblings, Sheila and Robert.

A special thanks for the amazing care from the hospice nurses and Spilsbury Mortuary who has done the arrangements, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Sharon's beautiful legacy.
