Sharren Lee (Olson) Trump, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 3, 2023. Sharren was born October 28, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carl Albert “Swede” Olson and Norma LaVonn Keddington of Bountiful, Utah. Sharren married James “Jim” Bruce Trump on August 6, 1971, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
Sharren was raised in Bountiful, Utah, where she attended Stoker and Tolman Elementary, Bountiful Jr, and Bountiful High School. She met the love of her life “Jimmy Jet” who lived across the street from her father’s pharmacy where she worked (Bountiful Drug) and they attended several classes together throughout school. She attended Dixie State College and LDS Business College while she waited for Jim to return from his LDS mission. For most of her career she worked, and eventually retired, as an agent with the State of Utah Department of Transportation at the St. George Port of Entry.
Sharren participated in many community volunteer organizations, most notably as PTA President and member for many years. As PTA President, she campaigned for a crossing walk on the busy 400 North in Bountiful, Utah, leading to Meadowbrook Elementary. Ironically enough, a few years later, she was pulled over and given a ticket at the very same crossing walk she fought so hard for! Sharren loved to serve others. She even accepted the honor given to state employees to volunteer in The Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002.
Sharren was the original “soccer mom.” Mothering and chauffeuring for the many sporting events on behalf of her children, Darrick, “Tommy”, Teresa, and their friends for many years. She enjoyed time with family always, traveling to Hawaii, Australia, Bahamas and around the Western United States to various sites and adventures.
Sharren was a talented artist in oil painting. She loved music all her life and participated in the inaugural Mormon Youth Choir. Sharren was dedicated to family history, researching, and doing ordinance work for multiple generations of family lines: Keddington, Olson, McPhie, and more. She held many callings in various wards, including Relief Society, Primary, serving in the baptistry of the St. George Temple for 3 years, The Special Needs Mutual in LaVerkin, and Spanish Branch (now a ward) in Hurricane, Utah.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Trump in Hurricane, Utah; Darrick (Sandy Ditlevsen) Trump living in Yuma, Arizona; Teresa (Mike) Starnes in Washington City, Utah; and Tom (Murna Dutton) Trump in Hurricane, Utah, 11 Grandchildren: Nicole LaVonn Trump, Tyler James Trump, Kelson Peter Trump, Bryson Will Trump; Jared Roy Starnes, Sierra Michele Starnes; Ashley Trump, Shelby (Hunter) Collard, Garrett Kelly Trump, Carl James “CJ” Trump and Haylee Trump. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Karren (Richard) Balderston, Carla (Monte) Miles and Mary Beth (Wally) Kapp; and many nieces and nephews she adores so much.
Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend - Sharren exemplified Christ-like compassion, forgiveness, graceful solitude, patience, hope, and joy. While reserved and shy at times, Sharren lived her testimony of the gospel with a light in her eyes, a burning in her bosom, and faithful assurance until the end. Somewhere over the rainbow…she was greeted in the arms of her Savior and walks with Him now. Until We Meet Again.
